Required for minor to give statement to auto insurance adjuster?

My 16 yo son was in an auto accident today.
The other driver admitted 100% fault both to my son and the responding police officers. The PO said that his report would reflect exactly that.
This afternoon, the other driver’s insurance adjuster called my wife and said that my son had to give a statement.
I call bullshite.
I have the red arse for insurance adjusters from a previous accident I was involved in. A woman ran a red light and I TBoned her. Keep in mind I had a vehicle on each side of me so I couldn’t change lanes. The insurance company ruled that I was 10% at fault because I laid on the horn as I slammed on my brakes. The idea being that I could’ve evaded the accident better if I didn’t use the horn. frick those motherfrickers.
Anyway, I want no part of them manipulating my minor son into some partial fault.
If I refuse to allow him to give a statement, will this slow the process?

Get your insurance company to get their in house lawyer to submit a statement on behalf of your son. If you have a decent insurance company they will get it done quickly.

If he admitted fault, tell your own company and tell your company to handle it.
I wouldn't talk to the other party's insurance

Do a written statement and submit it through your carrier.

Your son should plead the Fifth!

A long time ago, my first wife was in a fairly minor accident that was the fault of the other driver. The insurance company said they would pay 70% of the cost as the other 30% was my wife fault. Just like your experience. After arguing with them for a week or so, I called them up and said "Does that 70% also include my wife's medical bills...her wrist is really starting to hurt and I just wanted to be sure you were covering 70% of the medical bills as well." They called me back and gave me $1K over the most expensive estimate to fix the car.
You have to be willing to screw them as hard as they are trying to screw you.

Do not and I repeat do NOT talk to the other party’s insurance!!! I’ve been thru this. They are just trying to find a way in which he can be placed at fault too. Not sure your state but in AL is it’s .1 percent your fault and 99.9 percent the other party’s fault each insurance is responsible for their policy holder. If the cop says it’s their fault leave it be. Talk to your insurance company only! It doesn’t matter if it slows the process if he talks to them and they find it partially his fault and you get squat from the other party’s insurance company

Your son pretty much has to give a statement. That’s pretty standard. Problem is they will use everything he says against him. You have to be very careful in your choice of words when giving a statement after an accident even when you’re not at fault because they will use everything you say to try to give you partial liability - just like what happened to you.
Say something like this:
Adjuster: what happened?
Your son: your insured hit me
NOT this:
Your son: your insured came outta nowhere and I had no choice but to hit him because I had no time to stop.
Because if he says something like the second option, they will give him partial liability saying he wasn’t paying enough attention (claiming he should’ve seen the other driver coming - evidenced by him saying they came outta nowhere) and that he was going too fast (claiming he would’ve had time to stop if he wasn’t going so outrageously fast).

Just google it before you do something you will regret. I promise any information you give the other insurance company you will regret later.

Remember — if your son is ruled 10% at fault, he gets revenge when his neck suddenly starts getting very sore.

Who is the other driver’s insurance company
Just for knowledge if I ever have to deal with them.
DO NOT let your son talk to them. I bet they back off if you tell them all their questions have to be submitted in writing through your attorney!

Yes.
Only if you’re cool with whatever low ball offer they want to throw out maybe.
Seems like the police report here should speak for itself anyway, such that even in that case there’s nothing to be gained. It’s certainly not “required.” You should report any adjuster to the Insurance Commission who tries to pitch that shite.
