Lotta misinformation in this thread.
Like, a lot.
The adjuster HAS to speak to each party. It’s standard operating procedure.
You can have the adjuster on speaker, be in the room with your son, and answer accordingly.
Or, you can file through your insurance.
Call your agent for help on this as well.

Police report does not speak for itself as other driver may dispute what officer claims he said. Insurance company just needs to get both sides of the story. you can submit in writing or caution him about choice of words, like other poster said.

The adjuster has to try and speak with each party.
As an insured you have a duty to cooperate in the investigation of your own company. With someone else’s insurance you do not owe them anything. It’s up to the individual, or in this case the parent, to decide if they want to provide any info to the other insurance company.

Wait for the report to come out. If it comes out saying what your son says, no need to state shite. If the other driver “disputes what the officer claims” let them try to sell that. Actually, pray they do try it.

Well, now that the other driver has admitted fault. Remind them that the process needs to be speedy and that your son's BACK AND NECK HAVE BEEN HURTING REALLY BAD. He can't even turn his head.
Remind them that your son is going to have to seek medical treatment and you may need legal counsel.
Watch how fast they forget about talking to your son.
He is just hoping to trip up your son. Take some of the liabilty off of his comapny.

Ok he doesn’t HAVE to give one but if the OP wants this ti go as smoothly as possible, he should. He just needs to know what to say and not to say.

If it is your insurance company, yes. Otherwise, it could be deemed a failure to cooperate and you coverage may be voided.
If it's the other guy's (which you said was the case), there's no requirement. It will slow things down, however.

So let me ask this,
If I talk directly to my insurance company and it’s deemed 100% the other driver’s fault, does my insurance go up anyway?

If it is truly a no fault accident on your part, it should not cause your premium to increase.

No it should not.
If the other driver is 100% at fault your insurers investigation, anything they pay for your damages, they will try and collect 100% back from the other company. Including your deductible.
The companies do not have to agree, but yours is the only one who matters to you and your pocket book.
Double check with your agent.

Trust me, if your son's wrist begins "hurting" this will all end really quickly.

I’d hate to work in an industry so cut throat.

Years ago I hit a lady in the rain near an exit ramp. It was my fault, I’d like to think State Farm or maybe Zurich (I think I was in my company car) didn’t try to manipulate the situation by talking to the lady I hit.
I felt pretty bad it was in the rain. Cop arrived taking statements etc in the rain- I was pretty disgusted with my self.

You have no obligation to give a statement to the other person's carrier. Your son already gave a statement to the police that should be included in the police report narrative which they have. The only reason they are seeking a statement is 1) Their insured is disputing the police report or 2) they are going to try to hope that your son makes an inconsistent statement from what he told the police.
You have a duty to cooperate with your own carrier, not a third-party.
What kind of claim are you making against the other carrier?
