re: Can someone explain what a payroll tax cut means exactly? - Sheepdog1833
Depends on what percentage is stated in the executive order. On average it’s about 8% of your earnings. Plus businesses would save the same percentage as they have to match those contributions. ...

re: What’s everyone’s opinion on Generation Kill? - Sheepdog1833
From personal experience, I find the series to be fairly accurate. Admittedly I haven’t seen it since it first came out. I know in this country we typically have a high reverence for our military, but the population mimics the general population. Sometimes you’ll see virtuosos in the lower enlis...

re: Undeveloped land questions - Sheepdog1833
I live close to where you are building. I commented on your other post on the HG board. Electricity is a bit of a crap shoot as far as cost. Best thing is to call WST and get an engineer out to assess. He will tell you exactly what you’ll have to pay if anything. We had them pull a line undergroun...

re: Building on undeveloped land in St. Tammany - Sheepdog1833
I built five years ago in STP Typically I would find a separate contractor to do the land clearing and pad prep etc. However, your home contractor should be able to add that to his project. Cost will vary widely depending on what trees you have, can you burn it haul off, how much material needs to ...

I’d like to make a brisket for my dad for Father’s Day. He lives a couple hours away and we are meeting around lunchtime. Is there a process for this that doesn’t involve cooking overnight? Happy Father’s Day to all of you hooligans. ...

re: Concrete and exterior construction recs - Sheepdog1833
there is a vast gulf between a homebuilder/residential contractor and a guy who does odd residential repair/small jobs.
I’ll echo this. For every ten small jobs I quote, which takes time and money by the way, I may get an email back to say I didn’t get the job. I may only get one ...

re: Cement finishing price - Sheepdog1833
It’s L shaped on 2 sides of my shop. 10x40 on the back and 8x26 on the other side. So actually 608sf. 4” slab. I’m eventually going to put a drop over a part of it so I’ll probably put some footers there. I can get a truck to it no problem at all. I could probably handle striking it off but...

re: Can I fix this absolute catastrophe by sloping some masonry sand and St. Aug Sod? - Sheepdog1833
If you are going to dig next to the ditch at the street especially with an excavator with little to no experience, call 811 (LA OneCall) to get them to mark the utilities. They’ll need I think 72 hours to mark. Also, you may need to call the parish to mark the water line and sewer house connections....

re: Cement finishing price - Sheepdog1833
I pay my guys around $220 a day. That’s probably high but I can get them whenever I need them. What are the actual dimensions of the slab? How is the concrete getting to the project area? Who is striking it off? Is it a one man or two man or more job will be determined by thees answers. ...

Flipping houses as sole income? - Sheepdog1833
I co-own a heavy construction company that had taken a hit over the last 18 months and a huge one recently because of the shutdown. And truth be told it isn’t exciting to me after 20 years in the business. I’m looking into flipping houses at first as a supplemental income then going full time. I...
No. Group health insurance premiums only.
This is in response to what question? All of them? Workman’s comp, commercial insurances? 941s which I’m adding now? These are direct payroll costs to the employer. I probably would’ve been better off furloughing my employees to have...
