this is a pretty pathetic thing to be celebrating. maybe reevaluate your life.

Nowhere in my post did I express joy regarding the death of Swedes.

I laughed, although since I specifically mentioned posters in that sentence, it should be pretty clear that I’m laughing at morons like you, not people that died.

So you're happy some Swedes died because it supports your narrative on a fricking message board. You're a loser.

I love it. Whenever someone disagrees with someone else today, suddenly the opposing view is a “narrative”.

This is data. This viewpoint is coming from the architects of this failed system. What “narrative” are they vested in here?

Sharing data does not equate to me having a narrative.

where did i ever post that social distancing was a bad idea? i'll wait. my stance has been: the pro's will never outweigh the overwhelming cons to shutting down the country and economy for 3 months. which i think is fairly fricking obvious for anyone who isn't a moron.

Did the WHO commend Sweden and point them out as a model response?

Well they just suffered the world’s highest weekly per capita death rate.

I remember quite a few posters referencing Sweden as proof that social distancing and the lockdown was unnecessary

i imagine this has been said, but i will say it anyway

this is expected. their policy is a long-term policy to get COVID over with as quickly as possible while protecting health care cacpacity

I would take Sweden’s reaction to the virus 10 times out of 10 over our own.

In your linked article is a graph showing the decline of deaths per day in Sweden, which follows the same trendline as Louisiana, and most other states in the US as well.

Also in the article, Sweden has seen 449 deaths per million. Louisiana at 593 per million. Do I need to remind you that Louisiana shut down for 8 weeks?

not reading your gotcha attempt thread.

this sickness is going to kill some people with underlying conditions. We should all agree with this. However, who is to say what their death rate will be next year after many/most have been exposed to it?? Or with the death rate be in the US next year after the gov't has attempted to "shield" us from it??

There is no perfect way to deal with this. Accept this and move on.

36 deaths per million is what Sweden had last week. That’s the highest level in the world. 36 per million people. Think about that for a second. 3.5 deaths per 100,000 people. Stayed open the whole time.

I mean, unless hospitals are in true jeopardy of being overrun, the social distancing doesn't really do much to the death rate. The rate is the rate. No matter how fast it spreads or how long and drawn out it is, the death rate is the death rate. The only thing that really changes is how quickly you get to your total deaths number.

did you read your own article? the failure wasn't the policy

quote:

The Swedish prime minister, Stefan Löfven, told the Aftonbladet daily that the country’s overall approach “has been right”, but it had failed to protect care homes where half of all Sweden’s Covid-19 deaths have occurred. Social affairs minister Lena Hallengren told Reuters the government had been “at all times prepared to introduce wider, further measures recommended by the expert authority”.

the failure was in how they protected old folks homes

What does this have to do with racism?

Racism is what's important right now, not some stupid disease.

Ironically, the data supports the posters that you called out.

Chile has been in a military and police enforced lockdown since March 13 and they currently have the highest new cases per capita in the world.

Chile locking down on March 13 would be like the US locking down on Feb 1.
