Remember Chicken Pox Parties?

One child in a social group came down with chicken pox so all the mothers would gather their children to expose them at a young age. Worked out extremely well for all of us. Now we have soft arse kids with a vaccine against chickenpox. I guess in the 1980’s we should have shut down the entire country over chickenpox!

Should have covid parties to get herd immunity in people under 20 honestly.
I dont think spring break was a bad thing

The world (or at least our country) hasn’t thought like this in a long time....

The vaccine for chickenpox isn't so much about stopping children from getting it, it's about preventing old people from getting it or debilitating cases of shingles.

That’s sounds like some “outside the city limits” shite.

Nope. Back in the day, if you got chicken pox during the school year, you missed two weeks of school. If some kid got it during the Summer break, parents would send their kids to play with the pox kid. Two weeks later, pox is gone, no school missed, and the parents don't have to miss work because their kid can't go to school.

Coming from the guy who complained a few weeks ago that younger people didn't address him as sir in public..

Not as fun as the HIV parties in the 80's back when we thought we could develop herd immunity to the virus that causes AIDS.
Worked well for some of us. Now soft assed adults are running scared and sky screaming when they see a fever blister or yellowish vaginal discharge.

What the heck?

I told someone about this recently, and they didn't believe me.
Said it was weird to get a bunch of kids together to spread herpes.
Idk. I do plan to get the shingles shot when I'm older. That looks horrible.

There's a vaccine for that.
I don't think it is typically recommended until you're 50+ though.
Had shingles on my scalp and upper neck back in October. It was brutal. Gave me killer headaches and I could hardly turn my head for a few days.

2262 kids died in 25 years from complication of Chicken Pox in the US.
Less than the kids that were vaccinated.
