This story always fills me with dread, largely because of the billionaire clients made the tragic decision to bring his son on the doomed dive. I can think of little worse than being responsible for the death of my child.

Once they were down there what exactly would they be able to see if the thing they were in didn’t collapse?

Storing the submersible outdoors in New Foundland over the winter was the biggest problem. Water got in between the fibers, froze, and expanded. Freeze/that cycles likely spelled doom. Stupidity, arrogance, etc...

You just don't store stuff like that out in freezing weather.

Hard to have “an idea” when you don’t have a conscious at all.

Dude?
I want my money back. You advertised a marine vessel. That thing looks like an Honorable Mention in a Science Fair category that had four entries.

No way./ No how.

What was the point? I don’t understand things like returning bodies from war zones for instance, especially when it puts other people at risk. But this seems even sillier, why are they DNA testing it? Is it in question that they actually died down there?

I watched the documentary on it on Netflix a while back and while I understand why carbon fiber seemed to be the better material in some regards (lighter, easier to maneuver, etc) With that much pressure you need it to be steel.

It did make several trips to Titanic and back. Theres no denying it was an impressive gizmo even if it did end up imploding.

Were the remains stored in a 32 oz. collectible cup?

The Titan sub was likely trying to surface and the passengers probably knew the hull was 'starting to crack' before it imploded, James Cameron says

quote:

"This OceanGate sub had sensors on the inside of the hull to give them a warning when it was starting to crack," Cameron said on a Thursday appearance on ABC. "And I think, if that's your idea of safety, then you're doing it wrong."

"They probably had warning that their hull was starting to delaminate and starting to crack," he said.

In the Netflix documentary there's a segment or two where you hear those cracks on previous dives, and needless to say, they're unsettling considering you know what they indicate.

The only positive in it is that they assumedly felt absolutely nothing and have no idea what happened to them since that shite is so instantaneous.

One would hope so but we don't really know. They thought the same thing about the Challenger explosion in 1986, only to find out differently.

Amazing that they could even recover "slush". I would have imagined it would just separate and float away in the currents, get eaten by fish, etc.

I'll bet that Rose had enough room on the door to fit those remains.

They knew it was coming, even if they didn’t physically feel it.
