Reddit needs to stop being the top suggested by google if i cant even browse without making an account and opening myself to their massive security flaws.
Google pays Reddit to scrape its data for AI training. The internet is going to get really wild in a couple years as Reddit sentiment becomes the baseline for available information annywhere else.

95% of subreddits are much less political/culture war bs than the OT so if you can deal with it here I don't know why it would bother you there.
Yeah, I’d be curious what these subreddits they’re looking at are. I guess ones I frequent like Running and College Football and Wallstreetbets are “extremely niche” because I’ve never seen anything in the way of political discourse

Eh, Reddit isn’t really that political outside of the political subs and the state/city subs.
Absolutely not true. I once spent two weeks muting and blocking all political post on my Reddit feed because this is what Reddit recommends to keep any unwanted content from showing up. When I was done I had more political post than I did before.

Blocking would only remove posts from 1 user so that wouldn't do much at all.
If you mute a subreddit you will no longer see posts from that subreddit on your front page.
The real answer though is to unfollow all subreddits you dont care about and join a bunch of subreddits you are interested in. If you arent following many subreddits they are gonna recommend stuff. If you follow 50 active subreddits most of your front page is gonna be from those places.
The recommendations are based on your interests though. I follow cfb, golf, and nba subreddits so i notice i often see posts from the Golf_unfiltered and sportsgossips subreddits. My front page right now has a soccer corner kick from the Amazing subreddit.
If you are getting recommended political subs that means you have been interacting with political stuff

Reddit is useful for a few niche things.
Mainstream media/sports/culture... avoid like the plague.

I've never cared about that website. There's some cool subs, but not enough to get me to create a log in. No thanks

The dog and cat pictures are cute.
The Past subreddit is entertaining.
The CFB subreddit has leakage from the toxic politics subreddits. They were outraged at Murrill for filing a motion to dismiss Stankey's frivolous lawsuit even though that's literally her job.

They led me here when they said TD was a cesspool.

You arent gonna be bombarded with racial threads every day on the woodworking subreddit
They were throwing a hissy fit in the college football subreddit because Kirk Herbstreit dared to support a Republican.
Besides the fact that it's an echo chamber over the silliest things, it's also a bunch of left wing nutball vaginas.
It has its good spots, but once they get big they turn like the rest of the site.

Reddits problem is that liberal ideas get boosted/upvoted by bots and anything against it gets demoted. it attempts to sway opinion by popularity. I refuse to believe their system fairly represents the opinion of the users.
I know this is probably common sense to most and used other sites but it’s so blatant on Reddit imo.

The top post on there yesterday morning was:
Kirk Herbstreit is a GOP fundraiser
With the exact comments you’d expect.
And they do that thing Reddit loves to do on “apolitical” subs where they let it get upvoted to the top, THEN lock it so they can say they followed their rules but it’s still front and center with all the comments.

Anyone arguing Reddit isn't a liberal cesspool in a VAST majority of the subs just has blinders on or agrees with those politics.
I'm not an overly political person and it's ridiculous how bad it is over there.

The CFB has one has a highly upvoted Kirk Herbstreit is a secret Republican post right now
Subreddits range from political focused subs that are staunchly left wing with rare exceptions
To default large GENERIC sub Reddits like r/pics or r/askreddit which are not inherently political but still will have a few highly upvoted political posts every week. Once again strongly left bias. And remember politics isn’t just R vs D. There’s also a lot of major social and economic topics pushed to the top
There’s also default more focused subs like r/science which is more social science and political or r/NFL (top all time post is fake news saying Eagles skipping the White House) in which politics comes up from time to time but also once again very clear political lean
And then you have the smaller, more niche subs which depends. Many of these do get political in waves like Presidential elections or when boycotting Musk and banning Twitter happened

They are always trying to force me to log in but I found that if I visit from the private tab on my iPhone it doesn't make me. Idk if they are going to mess that up too now.

It's inconvenient to not be able to stay logged in. I'm not so sure it's THAT inconvenient.

I don't want to post, so I shouldn't have to login. I just want to read AITA and Malicious Compliance.
