Is this really the expectation? Had a client at work send me a link to a go fund me for his sons baseball team. The team was looking to raise $5,000.

They weren’t offering to sell candy bars or do a car wash or pizza coupon books, etc, or offer any service or product of any kind, they just wanted money. I don’t mind pitching in on a good cause, but this seems ridiculous.

I have my own kids and we have avoided the travel circuits because of the cost and time commitments. Our kids are doing just fine playing rec sports with their friends and enjoying their summer. I’m also not having to take a second mortgage out so we can go to some tournament in Orlando.

I saw a billboard on the highway a local bank had up for “youth sports loans”

I weep for our future

Yeah, same thing happened in our neighborhood for a dance team. They put flyers in people's mailboxes with a QR code to donate. It was pretty off-putting.

Next he'll start a GoFundMe for the kid's school clothes, video game hobby, wife's new SUV, etc.

Pretty good grift. He may have a future in politics.

I had a client send me something similar once. For their daughter’s cheer trip to Nationals.

I at least got to use the “client/therapist” boundary discussion as an easy out.

The way I look at it is you have to train your friends/coworkers. Go ahead and send me a request…I’ll gladly delete it and continue on with my day. Pretty soon, I am removed from consideration from future begs

Dude, the owner of our kid's daycare sent a message on the app asking for donations to her kid's dance team.... We were about to pull him out ASAP

What a ridiculous and inappropriate ask

Ask to see a group picture of the team moms and a “donation” amount associated with spending quality time with each of those individuals.

See how much they truly value Braxxton’s chances at another Ring.

I’ve gotten to the point I don’t mind at all saying no. Just like I don’t feel guilty for not tipping someone just ringing me up at a cash register.

If you’re not immediate family, you don’t get my money. Say “No” and never look back.

That's absolutely ridiculous and the client clearly doesn't have any shame.

HOWEVER, if this is a good client or a client that you could see being profitable long-term, the smart play would be to go to your boss and pitch having the company make a donation. shite like that helps keep clients loyal to your business.

But you personally donating? frick that.

Told my grandsons father that I would love to donate if they (team) would come over and work a couple hours in my yard. How hard is that.

My daughter’s cheer coach made her provide 15 emails and phone numbers of people to spam asking for donations. It was mandatory.

I own a business and was given a letter to sponsor two girls that I don’t know with their national beauty walk competition in Orlando. It had levels form $50 to $5000, lol. It has really gotten crazy.

the worst is when they're panhandling at all the entrances to grocery stores.
