Why the hell would someone think it's okay to beg for funds for your precious Trayxton's expensive-assed travel ball team? If you and the other live-through-their-kid parents can't afford to fund it out of your own pockets, keep your kids in rec leagues.

If you can't afford travel ball...don't play travel ball. Don't become a charity welfare queen/king so Jaxton can cost you thousands of dollars that you don't have.

found a guilty party. You don't get it huh?! It's shameful.

It’s shameful that kids are asking for donations to help fund an athletic endeavor?

I always throw them a few dollars to help out if it’s someone we know. I happen to think youth sports are really, really important for overall development. Of all these things we get asked to donate to, it’s probably one of the ones that actually moves the needle in terms of helping people.

I would find a way to have it notify him that I donated $0

You should send him a gofundme for a PS5 for your kid.

It's Big Lodging that promotes travel ball.

It’s gotten to a point that everyone has their hands out wanting free money (yours). I could have sponsored a golf tournament every week, contributed to a kid’s baseball, basketball, or soccer team every month, donate to someone else’s cause of the week, given to the drug addict panhandling at every street corner, sponsored fishing and hunting trips for customers who don’t contribute a dime to my bottom line, and the list goes on and on.

Thank God I’m retired.

I never mind helping someone out, especially if their kid is doing something productive like sports, boy scouts, band, etc.

Travel ball was great for my son. We spent a lot of quality time together, met some really good people that we're still friends with after playing days are done and MANY fond memories of ballparks across the South.

But, everyone is different. To each is own as long as they are not being jerks.

What about the kids that hand out waters at busy intersections while the moms/dads sit in their collapsible chairs and hold the signs asking for donations? I typically give them some money because at least they are out there hustling and it is hot. Not sure how they aren’t shut down though. Pretty sure it’s a requirement to wear high vis clothing to do this activity and obviously they aren’t doing any of that.

A kid came buy with a wagon and a little pressure washer to wash out garbage cans for $15.00 He did a good job and they smelt lemony fresh after he was finished.

He literally cleaned up. He did most of the houses on this street.

Yes it is. They are donating their time and I'm donating my money for their donating time. I'm not giving them a 1099.

No. That is earning. A transaction involving a transfer of money/goods or services from both parties involved. That is not donating.

“I used to have to walk the streets and hustle door to door.”

That’s not safe.Years ago a little girl doing that was murdered in Natchitoches.Dirt bag threw her body in a dumpster, she ended up in landfill.Authorities spent weeks searching for her body and never found her.
Imagine little girl’s resting place is a frickin landfill.

I went to high school, with that guy-Phillip DeSelle.Last person anyone would suspect of doing something like that.Nice guy from a good famiy, good student, everybody liked him.Not weird at all.His excuse was “he was having a bad day”.

Add insult to injury he was paroled after 24 years.

Yes, it's shameful. YOU are responsible for your kids sports expenses. Shameful, disgusting, and embarrassing to ask the public to pay for lil Jimmy's sports.

Doing a fundraiser is a different story. Nothing wrong with that. Otherwise you're a bum beggar.

Ask him to send you his Venmo info. Then send a request to him requesting him to send you $20. If he reaches out saying you sent him a "request for money" as a mistake, agree and keep increasing the request for money.

Damn now that's a solid kid hustle. Ive definitely got some kids in the family that could do this. Though one of my brothers will make his kids rent his pressure washer, make a profit on all the other cleaning materials they will use. He's the scrooge of the family no doubt.

Is this really the expectation? Had a client at work send me a link to a go fund me for his sons baseball team. The team was looking to raise $5,000.

They weren’t offering to sell candy bars or do a car wash or pizza coupon books, etc, or offer any service or product of any kind, they just wanted money. I don’t mind pitching in on a good cause, but this seems ridiculous.

I have my own kids and we have avoided the travel circuits because of the cost and time commitments. Our kids are doing just fine playing rec sports with their friends and enjoying their summer. I’m also not having to take a second mortgage out so we can go to some tournament in Orlando.

Pick a day on the calendar and donate that amount!!
