This is my ex-wife. We have a number of LAX teams that practice and play closer to Katy, but she elects to drive into fricking Memorial (40m) 3-4 times a week, cause she likes what those moms drive better I guess.

I'm sorry but you really are missing the point for your kids during these ages and sports. Remember, it's not about you, it's about them and the fun along with lessons they are learning.

It’s a poor substitution for playing with your own kid.

Most dads are out there helping on my kids team.

Team sports, like baseball, basketball, football, don't replicate well playing alone at home. You can practice shooting basketball, dribbling, throwing to dad, hitting off a tee, but you need a full team to understand how the game works.

Not sure what you are bitching about unless you are one of those travel ball dads who is complaining that rec leagues are taking up valuable field time for Jaxton.

What I don't understand is the coaches of these kids that tries to win the games by playing only a few players and letting the others ride the bench. (So the players on the bench don't learn shite.) This age range is for learning the game, not winning. Hell, most of the time, they don't even keep score.

A lot of "coaches" don't understand the term "developmental" and are only concerned with winning. Baton Rouge has a bad problem of every parent thinking their kids going to play ball at LSU, so they start cutting kids at 5/6 year old to stack teams. It's beyond ridiculous.

My point is that you’re offloading the responsibility to play with them. Take those 2 hours and go throw the ball with them, or shoot it in the basket, or kick it…over being “so busy” taking this one to X game and that one to Y game all twice a week!

My son's basketball team this season was the absolute worst at this. Ages 6-7. Yes, they won the whole tournament for the league, but 2 kids handled the ball the whole season. The others would just rotate out 1 at a time and run up and down the court. It was so annoying for the parents, kids, and opposing parents. I got a few texts like why is your coach letting your team win by 20 and not letting anyone else play. Ugh.

I have four kids. For one of them it was a total waste of time, couldn’t be less interested. For another one I discovered he can hit the absolute shite out of a baseball at 5 years old. Depends on the kid, but I think it’s a net positive for all kids.

Don’t know why I’m wasting time responding to a clear shitpost.

it's not for you. it's for the kids......and they absolutely love it at that age. You can see the excitement in their faces every time they step on the field.

If you aren't building your travel team by 6, it's too late.

It’s not about baseball at that age. It’s about learning to play on a team, socializing, and falling in love with the game. Sure the kids learn some basics like how to catch, throw, some rules, and how to swing a bat, but the real lesson is in having fun and falling in love with the game.

I say that, but there are some parents who try to act like it’s a big deal and are hard on their kids. Those are the kids that end up quitting and are 300 lbs by the time they hit puberty.

Well, I work out and exercise at a local YMCA. They have basketball for -5-6 yr olds. They gave up on teaching them to dribble with the basketball and instead they run with it to the goal and someone will just grab it and wrestle it from the ballrunner and run the other way….repeat. Sad to watch and they keep a score .

T-ball is an abomination and the primary reason for its existence is so wine moms can take pictures of their babies in uniforms.
