Brylcreem & Old Spice reminds me of my grandfather. His downstairs bathroom cabinet looked just like that picture and I can still see it. He's been gone for 18 years.

My dad was an Old Spice guy. He absolutely was one of the most manly old Air Force/Plant Worker guys you would ever meet. He wore that stuff forever and would just about pout if me or my brother forgot to give him a bottle or gift pack at Christmas or his birthday. When he died he must have had a dozen bottles squirreled away from me and my brother of deodorant, after shave and cologne. I believe he even had an extra "soap on a rope". Miss him and what we called our "Dad scent" of Old Spice. RIP Pops!!

The Clubman reminds me of my Dad and the barber shop in my little hometown where he took me to get my haircut all my life until I went off to college. He's been gone 9 now.

My local barber only uses pinaud products.

And keeps a bottle of bourbon in the back for me.

You don't get that level of service anymore.

My dad was Old Spice all the way. I remember one Christmas my mom got him a more expensive cologne like Aramis, It sat in his cabinet unused for years until he died 18 years ago. Then it sat for a few more years until my mom sold the house. There were numerous empty Old Spice bottles though in the cabinet under the vanity

I have a variety of fragrances, from after shaves to edts and edps (approx 50) Scents are very subjective but I just want to smell “good.” Knowing when and where to wear certain fragrances can go along way.

For instance the aftershave you picked does not look like a summer wear, but in the fall/winter or maybe even a cool spring or summer evening it might be awesome.

For summer, the Gillette cool wave after shave is one of my go too. Pinaud citrus musk is also an option. Now once we get into some cooler weather in oct etc, then I might get into my pinaud clubman, pinaud special reserve and old spice.

Also, some fragrances are deemed “safe” and inoffensive but not likely to make a distinct impression and others are not as safe but can really appeal and stand out to certain audience. It is useful to have some of both in your rotation.

applying these principles can make the fragrance seem less out of place, thus make it feel more natural to wear and less like an “old man.”

there is nothing worse than the guy at the office, or out for drinks, that you can smell from 10 ft away.

And yes, 1 or 2 squirts of cologne is still detectable from this distance.
