Great Wolf Lodge has been doing this for years. It’s especially annoying when you start your timer only to find out they haven’t changed the syrup, so you have to go bring them your cup of soda water and get a new one

Its not taking your blood. It's a code on a piece of plastic that's connected to a relay that allows liquid to come out of a machine or not

How is that an overlord?

That’s what happens when you buy one cup for one person and share it with your entire family.

Your dishonesty is the reason companies like that are making changes.

Ah, ok. I don’t go out as much anymore and just remember seeing “no free refills” on menus. I stand corrected.

This has been happening for years at places like Universal and on cruises. It's unlimited refills, but it only gives you so many seconds at a time (usually enough to fill it) and then you have to wait a set amount of time between refills of that cup (15 mins at Universal).

Everyone likes the convenience of these machines around the parks/cruises, so you don't have to go find a restaurant or something to get your refill.

And yes, water is always free in them, but you can also get ice water at any physical place too

I remember those days too and remember why free refills became a thing. It's because word got out that it only cost the fast food companies 7 cents to fill a glass of pop yet they were charging about 50 cents for one pop and then charging full price for refills. There was justifiable blow black for the practice. Every restaurant instantly changed their refill policy because of it.

Hint, those margins are the same today or better. They're not losing money on refills.

And those margins are what keep other food costs down and allow them to pay employees and be profitable as a business. Literally every business that sells products does exactly this.

If you have an issue with it, then dont buy it.

You can't get more than you bought. People cheat the system too much so this is what we get.

No one needs a second damn soft drink anyway.

As explained in a previous post, it's the price gouging aspect of the practice. Sometimes I forget about the ages of some on this board and how many of you, if not most, have only known free refills for soft drinks. There was a time you paid full price for each refill, and it sucked.

Personally, this doesn't affect me. I don't drink that stuff, I drink water. It's the greedy arse principle of the practice that irks me.

As long as I can get my unsweet tea (which can sometimes be surprisingly difficult), I'm good.

Oh please, keep other food costs down? Have you been to a restaurant lately? It's all straight up price gouging and an absolute ripoff.

I don't eat out anymore, ever. Restaurants need to start failing due to lack of business to get their prices back in line.

Pop - northern terminology.

Soda around here, I guess.

Actually there was a time you didn’t get any refills for free.

I remember when that started happening and it was a race to the bottom. Every place had to do it because more and more places were doing it.

Now society has taken things even further and everyone demands a full-arse drink to go when they leave.

I know what it is, just making a joke.

And they're all cokes where I'm from. Then you say what kind of coke
