While they might not be the biggest distraction, they certainly are one. Hell, if it wasn't for forward collision warning in my car, I might have rear ended someone a few weeks ago on my morning commute when I saw a sign that said something like "Get Gary Governor" or some such nonsense and the idiocy distracted me for a moment.
Now, that isn't to say that we should ban them, but billboards exist for the sole purpose of pulling eyes away from the road. So we should at least be honest about that.

This is treating the symptoms and not the cause of the problem. And a distraction, imo.
Let's make it harder for people like Get Gordon to make boatloads of $ suing insurance companies so they'll have less $ to spend on tacky advertising.

Yeah, so does the "free market" include tort reform? Because personal injury lawyers are just cogs in the wheel of a massive MASSIVE problem.
Few weeks ago one of my kids was sick so I had to take off for work a little bit during the day. Literally every other commercial.. some even back to back.. were for Gordon, Dudley Debossier, Morris Bart, Spencer C. They're preying on the worthless frickers sitting at home everyday doing nothing.
It's ridiculous.

If the 90% of the billboards in Baton Rouge weren't for the same few trial lawyers I wouldn't care, but I'm all for reducing them at this point. It's ridiculous

Last month I drove I-10 for several hours in California. There were only a handful of billboards, zero litter and smooth roads. It was nice. It makes a difference. As much time as we spend on these roads I’m for them being as scenic as possible. I later spent some time on the Baja Peninsula and the same thing. No billboards or litter.
