America's educated and wealthy are having kids at almost an alarming, descending rate. The rising cost of raising a child along with more modern ideals that having kids isn't something you "have to do" should it feel like a burden, are accelerating this process. That, plus the the way healthcare is structured - allowing those who have proper insurance/means to use a contraceptive, curb unnecessary/unwanted child birth.

Fact of the matter is, at our core, all humans are the same. We like the same shite. We like to socialize, partake in some inhibitors, and screw. Based on our social circumstance, how we do that changes.

Rich people get on boats in South Beach with their hedge fund friends, drink champagne and high end spirits, and bang models. These men almost assuredly, have contraception on their mind. Poor folks in the west bank likely do similar activities, at a different level. They'll pack up the trucks, head to a field/shitty bar, drink some moonshine (or meth, whatever), and hit a blonde/black haired girl name Haleigh-Jean in the back of their pick-up, with no regard to contraception, or sometimes, means to do it. They have a kid, struggle to pay for it, struggle to get it the right education, and the cycle continues.

I think we are seeing more of a class divide (and school inequality) due to this. As rich, educated families produce less children, the wealth becomes more concentrated per head. This allows for compound interest to grow on higher levels of capital, accelerating the amount of money grown over a shorter period of time. The same pool of money flowing around gets concentrated, the price of "desirable basics," such as secondary education and prime real estate go up, further driving a wall between the haves and have nots.

Look at Dallas, Texas. You go to Highland Park, and they've got the best public school system in the nation. Drive across the street south, and ISD is among the worst.

Hitting kids won't do anything. Empowering their families and giving them the right resources will.

America's declining birthrate has been seen across all classes.

Agree 100% OP. Yes i understand that this is only part of the solution. While i have rarely ever had to do anything past flicking my kids, i believe that there is nothing wrong with respect based in fear.

I am a teacher and being one can get tiring at times due to kids being rude and just overall a holes. I fully believe the problem with education in general is the home life when i was young the fear of getting punished at home about something i did at school kept me in line in class, kids today fear no one at home bc parents just do not care to punish their kids as long as they get to school are fed and accounted for for 8 hours then parents could care less about what their kids do bc for those 8 hours their kids are not their problem.. the issue will never be fixed either bc the way kids were punished that worked have all been taken out of schools. Giving a kid an infraction is like giving a thief a citation it does nothing.

What about respect based in respect?

I've got two sons, 17 and 12. My job as their father, along with the basic stuff, has been to show by example why I am to be respected. When they ask a question respectfully, they get a straight answer. They are allowed to argue a point with me and my wife, and if they are correct they get their way. I behave in a way that I want them to emulate...and they always have.

Sure...I could have always forced my will on them physically. I'm a really big guy and they are kids. I never found that to be the best way to achieve any long term goals with them (or anyone for that matter), because if they saw that the way I got them to do what I wanted was sheer force, then the lesson they'd learn is that might makes right. In the end, I've always gotten my sons to do the right things by explaining to them why it's right...so that they understand it and agree and will choose the correct path on their own, not out of fear of me, but because they agree it's the right path.

The mileage of others may vary however.

Spanking won't do anything either. 99% of all male teens would take a spanking over detention. Spanking is only a good deterrent for little kids.

They still paddle kids at my home town school. And it's still eaten up with druggies, shite heads, and general miscreants from what I'm told. It's not some magical cure-all.

The common denominator is poverty and shitty parents for the most part.

No shite. Why do we send people to prison? We should just paddle them instead so that they learn the error of their ways.

You seem to have done a very good job. Nothing wrong with what you are saying, or have done. It is never my first option to be physical. However, i am not afraid to do it.

The positive results are the most important part of this!

Get out of here with the logical thought process.

I can’t believe in 2019 people still think it’s acceptable to spank, hit, inflict violence, whatever you wanna call it on another human-kid or not but especially kids. Mind blowing.

that’s great but most of these kids don’t have parents like you. To say stuff like this to teachers makes you come off as a condescending pompous arse

Corporal punishment is the laziest way of rearing a child. It's means you've effed up in all other respects so the only thing the kid will understand is a Pavlovian response. Kids are not dogs.

Also, discipline should be instilled AT HOME by THE PARENTS.

When I was in elementary, kids just started to laugh at paddlings around the 4th grade. It provided 0 deterrent or motivation. And these were Dazed & Confused style solid oak paddles.

It's amazing to me that people actually downvoted or argue against the merits of corporal punishment. Society has completely lost the will to regulate itself.
