Public schools would be so much better if we could still hand out corporal punishment

All I heard for a week leading up to school is how there’s always “a better way” to reach these kids and how paddling and spanking doesn’t help the kid in anyway it just causes them to resent you. bullshite teachers should still be allowed to whip little johnnies arse more than ever today since the parents seem incapable of doing so. Half the kids are punks who don’t give a frick about school but they no all they have to do is show up and they’ll get a degree. Public school sucks and I see now why most decent teachers want to get out of it /end rant

Rta: administration is what fricks us

Bad take Gramps.

It stems from the broken families of 70-90% of the student body.

Society is just so against physical punishment that it'll never go. St. Augustine in NOLA, was still paddling just recently and came under a lot of fire.

Corporal punishment is a symptom, not the root cause of anything.

They still do. My kids and myself have the right to sign a form saying that I allow it and the child understands it's an option.

Mine also understand if they've done something to warrant one at school they get 3 at home.

In my home we do not spare the rod.

And you think spanking them will solve that?

No.

People who shouldn't be having children, because of poverty and immaturity, are having children at a rapid rate.

I don’t believe hitting children actually solves any problems but rather exacerbates that problem, maybe not immediately buy eventually down the road.

Spanking them or the threat of it will make them at least sit down and act right so others can learn. I teach high school and by now these kids don’t care if you send them home that’s where they want to be anyway. Giving them detention does nothing because they just won’t show up. If you don’t care about any of the consequences all the threats in the world are hollow. The one thing they would understand is physical pain but we aren’t allowed to do that

It is horrifying that you are an actual teacher

agreed but sadly mass sterilization is frowned upon and in most of these communities having babies means more free money so it’s not gonna end anytime soon

You sound like the dipshit who believes your little demon spawn is always right and it was just the mean old teacher picking on him that was the problem. You’d probably come up to the school raising hell about how dare we actually try to discipline your child and make them act right. Your what’s wrong with this country

I got paddled a few times from 1st grade through high school. Fear of being paddled again made me make good choices.

Look at me now, I'm a productive member of society.

They need more authority figures in the schools. With that said, I think a large part of the problem today comes from the parents.

To put it simple, too many parents are friends with their kids instead of parents. And they will defend their kids no matter what. What are teachers supposed to do with that?

Instead of spanking the kids the parents should be brought in and have their sorry asses paddled!
