Yeah it’s not a secret. A trace amount is used from fetuses from the 80s.

I certainly have no issue with someone taking a moral/religious stand on using products where human fetal cell lines have been used in the development or manufacturing of the product. I would point out if you care then you need to really drill into all the drugs you take, both Moderna and Phizer used fetal cell lines to verify their vaccine and quite a few medicines have used the same or different cell lines.

Actually, it would have been better if the cells remained intact in the living organism it came from and the mother take the cells - along with the rest of the living organism - for a walk in the park.

You know these stem cells come from things other than just abortion, right?

You religious nuts are silly.

Except for the fact they buy it from clinics. There’s big money in the abortion/harvesting/selling game.

No they don’t. The cells used are clones of clones grown in a lab. The cells used are thousands of times removed from the original ones. They weren’t bought from some clinic last year.

J&J had zero to do with the decision to abort. Their job is to make medicines and vaccines to save lives. They would be neglecting their job if they turned down material that would help them do that. The fetus was going to be dead whether they accepted it or not.

As a thought project: I wonder how this would have played out if the fetal cells used here had been harvested from a pregnant Auschwitz prisoner or some such.

Dead is dead, right?

They use a cell line from aborted fetuses that were aborted decades ago. They do not use tissue from recently aborted fetuses, as your thread title suggests. They don’t use any fetal tissue at all.

If they are using a Member’s Mark version, it will be using lower quality fetus.

It’s not even multiples it’s one and the cells are clones of clones that have been cloned a thousand times over.

People act like JNJ performs abortions so that they can procure fetal tissue. Which of course, is total and complete nonsense.

I’m 99% anti abortion and I agree with this.

They used fetal cells from a fetus aborted in 1985, 35 years ago, to develop this vaccine. They've used the same type of fetal cells to develop almost every other vaccine in recent history.

Does not the vaccine developer have the ability to say "No - I think we'll try something else"??

The ends do not justify the means. To kill one human life form to save another?

You are making the implication that the abortion is performed so that the cells can be given to a developer for research.
Your presumption is incorrect. I make the clear assertion that irrespective of the purpose, it's morally corrupt to kill a human life form.

It seems that the popular opinion is that it's ok to kill an unborn viable life-form for medical benefits.... as long as it's not mine.

I don’t think anyone is saying that. You’re suggesting that medical use of fetal tissue was part of the decision to terminate the fetus. People are explaining that the medical use determination was made after the abortion was over and the only decision was to use the tissue for medical science or to discard it.

Most of us oppose murder. A man is murdered, and his organs could be transplanted to save human lives. Should we throw the organs in the dumpster because we are against murder?
