Just coming here to say it is hot outside. Respect the heat after my near death experience yesterday.

I became dizzy, disoriented, massive headache and threw up 1.25x

I will now take some "cool down" breaks when outside in this heat.

If it can happen to me, someone who lifts, bjjs and has decent cardio.. it can happen to anyone!

Your cardio and weight training isnt helping you one bit in the heat baw.

Glad you are OK

I dont lift, run, flex or get on scales. But I bet I deal with the heat better than you . Its all about how use to it you are.

Hydration and cooling down is critical.

You probably do. I'm not conditioned.

And I'll admit I'm a puss with the heat. But never had anything happen before like yesterday. 10hrs in the straight sun just kinda snuck up on me.

But when it happen it just happened.

Regard the bj’s, if you’re receiving then I can see how that might drain fluids I guess.

I cut my grass around noon today. It's tough but not usually a problem. I was cutting the swamp around the rear of my property and didn't break soon enough. Made it halfway back up to the house before taking a knee. Luckily my wife and kids got home right then and my daughter brought me some water and a wet rag. I honestly don't know if I would have been able to cool down enough on my own to get back up before it was too late. Realizing you're not as young as you once were is a harsh lesson.

Heat started doing different things to me somewhere after 40. Started getting weird arse 2nd wave heat flashes after I had come in and cooled down and thought I was over it.

Nearly fainted or something one evening when I tilted my head back to stretch, and found myself hitting the floor.

If you are not used to it, you need to hydroload a couple of days ahead of time before jumping on the shark

I am ok on the boat or out in the sun as long as I am fully vertical. Once I start bending over in the heat, then it starts to affect me. And Im old too.

Pulling weeds in the middle of the day is the worst thing for me

happened to me about the same time. I started passing out when I got hot and dehydrated. And if you are in any way active in this heat even if it’s an outdoor event it’s hard to stay hydrated like you need to be. For me, I have to be pissing constantly before I’m fully ready for the blast oven.

I went down so hard one year at hogs they had to ambulance me to east Jeff

yes, same. If I’m bending over and back up a lot, it’s the danger zone

“ it can happen to anyone”

A friend of mine was helping cut down some some pine trees in the back of my yard one summer. He did welding for a living,he got heat exhaustion and had to quit.I was surprised,I worked in a air conditioned building,I was surprised the heat got him and not me.

I had my own experience with heat exhaustion summer before last, again cutting up trees,It hit me like a ton of bricks.I was by myself, made it back to the house. It took me a few hours to get back to feeling normal, drank Gatorade, pickle juice and water with a fan blowing on me.

A neighbor almost died at work in the heat few years ago.Was just drinking plain water,no electrolytes.Sodium got too low also known as water intoxication.Medical term is hyponatremia.

This. Im knocking on 50 and tolerate the heat pretty well living in S LA my whole life. Its kind of a pride thing for me too..”bring yer Wisconsin butts down here in july and august and lets work outside”

Saturday before last it was like a light switch. Suddenly I was dizzy, nauseous and knew I gotta get to shade sun was all “not so pompous are we old rattle?!”

Took a cold shower and continued to sweat in the A/C for 30–45 mins

100% inaccurate.

A high level of cardio conditioning improves blood volume and flow which allows the body to shed heat. It also means your body is conditioned to sweat quicker and increases overall evaporative cooling. It also means your sweat contains fewer electrolytes, preventing you from leaving your body without proper electrolyte levels. Anyone who exercises/works outside all summer will see the white sweat stains in their dried clothing get reduced through the summer.

I am not saying heat exposure doesn't teach the body some of the same physiological tricks but the same person at a high level of cardiovascular conditioning will fare better in in heat than the same person in the same heat with poor conditioning. The cardiovascular system performs the same job as a home air conditioner in a very similar fashion. The blood transfers the heat from the various parts of the body to the lungs, where it is exhaled into the atmosphere. The heart is like the compressor, the blood is like the refrigerant, the capillaries are like the coils in the evaporator and the lungs are like the coils and fan in the condenser. A better conditioned heart is like having a higher tonnage AC unit on your home.
