Yeh, that's not time travel. That's, as you mentioned, just exposing yourself to a different frame of reference. Going a different speed through time.
The concept of time travel would require a way to return from whence you came. The concept you are describing is simply a way to allow yourself to stay alive longer than everyone else, and thus you end up "in the future".
If you find a way to cryogenically freeze yourself and get thawed by a civilization a thousand years in the future, you haven't "time travelled" even though you went to sleep, seemingly no time passed, and woke up in a distant future.
There are plenty of theoretical ways to allow time to pass at a different rate and thus you end up still alive many many years later. There are no good even theoretical ways to go back, though.
