Nobody on the district level is saying that.
We will be in phase 2 or 3 by August, which lets schools open.

Or we could keep this Principal's pillow talk with your wife off the OT ?

All of my grandkids are in the DFW metroplex. They have been been doing classes from home since late March, so not a big deal. Course they all have school issued laptops or notebooks. Yes, in elementary school.
My youngest daughter teaches 4th grade. While she said it was quite an adjustment, you get used to it after a short time. Difficult for the Mom’s at home to maintain a schedule, but looks like the kids look forward to the shortened classes.

It’s crazy how far behind la schools are from Texas. It’s awesome that kids get school issued laptops that early in their development- I’m assuming that’s a public school in tx. The computers in my wife’s classroom have to be 10+ years old. They can’t even teach the kids how to type on a keyboard bc their isn’t enough computers to have a class on it.

Principal is just setting it up where she can come "observe and evaluate" your wife at home. If you are lucky, they might let you watch.

Sounds like that works well for them because she is going to be home anyway. For all of us that have both parents working full time still I don’t see how this is going to work in any extended timeframe. The kids have to learn and be taught, especially little ones with learning disabilities that need more attention and time and can’t just teach themselves looking at a computer program.

They had a pick up day for laptops if a student didn't have one. 4th grade on up takes their laptops home already so the pick up day was for second and third grade and any student not at school the Friday we let out. Also on that Friday we had to do a survey on students and internet access. The parish took the survey along with a map of the parish to determine where the hot spots would be best utilized.
I haven't stopped working yet, wake up at 4-5 in the morning get all of my material organized/created, plan for my next day, then create videos, and upload. Usually takes 3 hours to get everything done properly. Once everything is posted and uploaded I sit around and respond to student questions, either by the program we use, zoom, or phone call. I also have Zoom meetings 3x a week right now to discuss what we are doing, students who are not working, etc. I also have to call home to each of my students once a week to make sure they're working and to see if the parents have any questions.

Principal doesn't have any inside knowledge.
It's just a matter of getting ready in case this isn't over by August.

teachers are already bad in this country, nothing like making it worse.
What will they whine about now, since they get to teach from home? Their chair isn't comfy enough?

These are just a few of the things that make me think you should get some elementary level tutoring in spelling and grammar. If your wife is indeed an elementary teacher, she may be able to help you.

What parish if you don’t mind me asking? It’s interesting how there isn’t a uniform plan from the state. I say that bc you are having to do all these action items and my wife doesn’t do anything. She hasn’t been given any action items what so ever except one. That one item was to find ways to bump
Up kids with grades of 60-66 and pass them. So she had to go back and basically manipulate their test grades in order to show they were at a 67 or whatever the passing grade for high school is. She works in Vermilion Parish which is one of the best in terms of school grades. Not so good on funding however.

u must have never been to the ‘principle’s office’ before, because I have never seen it misspelled before today (as 99.9% former students know how to spell it from from a visit or two)

My wife works at Tulane and was told Monday that no students will return in the fall and all classes will be online. Today the entire administration had a “town hall” with president Fitts where he said that students will return in the fall. Not sure if anyone knows what will happen in a few months. If people are still testing positive and there’s no vaccine yet, I have a hard time seeing any school opening back up.
Here's an idea, wait a little while before making any statements about what will happen when. It is irresponsible to feed hysteria without knowing where we'll be in 3, 4 or 5 months.
When you don't know, don't speculate. But many in this situation don't know that they don't know...and that is a big problem.

This is one of those face space/next door rumor mill stories. What the principal was probably told by the district was that yes, a closure that long is possible, but not likely. Have a plan in place just in case so we’re not caught off guard.
Instead people take the bullshite narrative like today’s media does. Take the tag line and make it seem like the most likely scenario.
For example. Trump goes through drills for procedure in the case of nuclear attack. The media reports, “Trump preparing for nuclear attack.” And the general population goes fricking crazy.
