Yeah I wasn’t prepared for that long. I only have enough gas for another 4-6 hours in the generator before I have to go siphon from the boat.

Like 10% of the city doesn’t have power. So lucky to be in that number.

Well it is the first time it’s said anything in 3 hours so it might just be a standard 5 pm for everyone and the reality is sometime in the middle of the night.

Has always puzzled me why power utilities in storm pron areas are not underground. 10s of billions of dollars have been spent restoring overhead power lines after storms...........but

That’s the worst case scenario my man, it will probably be back on before 5AM. It sucks, but I promise even Entergy isn’t that bad.

I think estimates are like that because of the high wind warning. The current winds are pretty light but that advisory has them scared to get the trucks out. They probably haven’t done much surveying yet.

Yeah I got that date too. Out in the Central area.
Guess its a blanket time frame.

Might be how long they think it will take to get the necessary crews in place

That is retarded. Centerpoint logged 7k total 'customers affected," of which under 1000 are still down 9-10 hours later. In greater Houston.

Because as expensive as it is to fix overhead lines, it’s still more cost effective to keep fixing them than to run new lines underground.

I think everybody realizes it’s expensive but I think a lot of folks don’t understand how expensive. The cost difference between replacing the uninsulated lines hanging from poles when they get damaged vs. running an entirely new grid underground using larger insulated wire in oil-filled conduit is massive.

It's so they can bill us an extra three days for repairing "storm damage"

I’m in bum fricked north Louisiana but we lost power in the storms last night around 1am. Not expected to be restored until 6pm tomorrow. Glad I hit the bullet on a generator over the winter.
