Someone that says this either makes $30k and slums with multiple roommates or makes $100k but lives in debt up to their eyeballs.

$100k is $25k higher than the national household income. So, that statement is incorrect from the get go.
$100k in some circles is not a lot of money, but to most of the country that is a great salary.

Visit Mexico City, Nairobi or similar places that do not have a welfare system similar to the US, it is not something you want. Whatever tax money you might save not subsidizing the poor will be spent on private protection for your family and property. While our system seems to reward those among us who are non-productive, it greatly reduces crime and violence toward the more productive members of society.

It's the way they wrote the ridiculous federal unemployment rules. If you qualify for any sort of state unemployment money, you get the federal money $600 a person. They also added the qualifier that 1099 individuals could qualify. So, as long as either could prove they had a job (do not know the time frame), they would get the appropriate state unemployment AND the $600 per qualified person.
I have no idea how qualifying for food stamps work.

I live in Orlando. 100k isn’t really a good living here, it’s mediocre. I imagine 100k in actual major cities is scrapping by.

the median home income for Orlando is $41k
