This is the way I would look at it. Always be thankful when someone gives you something. A lot of times it's more about the gesture than the actual gift, but on the other side of things, if I wanted to give someone $50 in a gift card, I would give them an Amazon gift card or something. I don't like giving gift cards to a specific store or restaurant.
At RC, $50 will get you a meal and one or two beers, depending on what you ordered. He basically gave you enough to treat yourself to a meal at RC. If you want apps and dessert and more drinks, then that's on you. You can go and take your SO to RC and have a dinner for two for half the price. I don't understand the uproar in this thread.

Plus Tax and Tip would run you right at $180 at La Petit
We didnt get dessert. But I just ran down a quick list of what we got...
(2) Beers, (2) cocktails = $38
(2) Appetizers= $26
(2) Entrees = $50
Subtotal: $114, with 30% tax/tip= $148

I have just received a random Birthday greeting from an out-of-state friend/business associate of significant means and a net worth that exceeds mine by a factor of ten.
I am grateful.
But yet I wonder, what is this for ?

And I really wish the Ruth here did power lunch like in Baton Rouge
We have a group of 6 that eats at Ruth every Friday then we play credit card roulette for who pays the bill. Drinks is what gets us

would you rather pay the whole meal out of your own pocket? If not, $50 will pay for some of it. What's the issue exactly?
To play a little devil's advocate.. what if OP isn't someone who goes to restaurants like Ruth's?
My parents do well financially, and I don't think they've been there in their lives. That's not the type of dining out they do. If someone gave them $50 to a place that will likely cost them $100, they probably wouldn't use it.
$50 to a restaurant than runs ~$100 for two people is nice if the person actually goes to that restaurant, but kinda sucks if they don't spend that kind of money dining out.

Minimum of 100, however after reading this I would say 150.

A) Use it as an excuse to try something new next time he goes out.
B) Gift it to someone that he knows eats there.
C) Sell it online.
D) Bitch about it online.

Hey NovaBill. Stopped eating meat in early January. Read some of the stuff you recommended. Never had any heart problems or high cholesterol but my Dad had a massive stroke last year and I know what's in the future. Mrs Pimp continues to be an extreme 105 lb carnivore. I hope you are well.
