Go list a 50$ gift card to anywhere on ebay and tell me what it goes for.

What the frick education did you get where 50$ is acceptable?

Go bring that thing to Ruth's Chris and tell me how much it's worth..

I didn't read that crap after you said it wasn't the same as $50 cash.

If you use it in its intended purpose, as a gift card to Ruth's chris, it's absolutely the same as $50 cash.

It's worth $50 at Ruth's Chris. That's the point. There's no need to get upset.

Dinner with wine, apps, dessert and steaks for Pimp and his wife at RC is easily $300.

Going to a nice restaurant doesn't mean you have to do it as big as possible. You do wine, apps, steaks and desert, you are not "easily" 300. You are just around 300 if even. Wine is about $75ish, Apps are about $20, Meals about $60 a piece, Desert probably aroud $15. You are looking at 276 bucks with a 20% tip. Again, you guys seriously over estimate how expensive the place is.

You can easily manage a dinner for 1 around $50 (especially if you don't eat steak, but admittedly what's the point). And for lunch it's definitely doable.

ETA: I've had nights where I drank a lot there. But I don't associate dinner with drinking. I rarely just grab a drink or two unless it's an event. So I don't even contemplate the cost of drinks when I'm thinking how much a simple dinner is going to cost me.

Right. Since it's a Ruth's Chris gift card.

He's giving OP $50 to put towards a nice meal.

This entitled outrage is just ridiculous.

Id be too embarrassed to use a $50 GC at Ruths......that just screams..."I'm poor and the only way I would ever eat at this restaurant is if someone gave me a GC"

Why do you care what other people think. Why wouldn't you take it as, "I'm so grateful that this $50 gift card enables me to eat at this restaurant I can't afford. I should appreciate this rare opportunity and make the most of it."

You're kidding, right? It's fricking Ruths Chris, not Per Se or The French Laundry.

2 Apps
2 Entrees
2 Cocktails
2 Deserts
Plus Tax and Tip would run you right at $180 at La Petit

I said it had the same value. $50 is $50 unless you're too good to accept such a measly gift to Ruth's Chris.

But still, it does provide a Larry David-type dilemma for the gift recipient. Because it's not a free meal. It's a down-payment on a meal.

It is a free meal, it's just may not be what you what you wanted to eat.

I know exactly what it means and I won't take english advice from a guy who puts the dollar sign after the number.

You're acting like $50 is a low gift to give. Meaning you believe you would be entitled to get a $200 or higher gift so you could pay for the whole meal.

That's entitlement.

Exactly...I dont need a GC to eat at RC.....I'd be very happy to use my own money and give the GC to someone that would need it to be able to eat there.
