Damn right. Religion is for conformist tools unlike free spirits like YOU. Religion is the source of all strife in the world! Sweet man. Original. You probably listen to Phish.

Did you sleep through history class?

I don't like thinking about how every single person born at that point will go to hell when the die, assuming Jesus hasn't returned by then. Maybe God will spare them because they were not provided the opportunity to learn about turning their hearts over to the Lord.
You're clearly not educated on Christianity. Not every Christian denomination believes you'll go to hell, in fact, there are some that don't even believe hell exists...

What indisputable scientific evidence do you have that God or a supreme being doesn't exist?
You cannot prove a negative. I personally believe in a universal source or creator but I don't believe in dogmatic religious precepts. I think all religions are a product of their time and place in human history. They are all describing the same essential thing. If you study world religions you will come to know this is true. There is no "right" or "wrong" religion or one true God etc. They are all just manmade attempts to describe the same thing. The term God, creator, universal intelligence, quantum energy, divine intelligence all describe the same thing.

and people wonder why society is moving away from religion?
even Christians can't agree on what they believe in

All of this was predicted in the Bible. Everything is going as planned.
Yea everything was so peachy in the Dark Ages when everyone was a religious zealot like you. I wish we could go back then to such a peaceful era when people were burned at the stake routinely for witchcraft and we all lived to be 40 something..those were the golden days

exactly, anyone that does is a fricking idiot.
But you seem to be answering it for everyone. There isn't any proof that says clearly one or the other, and its not a risk to believe one for the most part.
quote:
if the truth changes, then its not truth.
Based on what definition of truth? Like I said. For some people believing in a thing = truth, for others, its only that which can be physically proven = truth, and another group is "if most people believe it = truth". Do you understand how this works? Your truth =/= everyone else's truth.

What was happening in religious circles 40 years before the writing of the Constitution began is irrelevant
The French Revolution movers and shakers also aspired to adhere to Enligtenment principles, but then they banished churches and replaced them with "Temples of Reason". There may have been deists among the Founding Fathers, but religious liberty garnered the support it did due to the Religious Liberty foundation of the country by Protestant sects escaping persecution. Basically all of New England was founded on this premise, not Deism.

Whatever being it is, if its all knowing, and all powerful, it isn't held accountable to your human constructs of "proof" and "evidence".
Or of human constructs of religion, morality etc. That cuts both ways.

I still see many adults that "ask" for gifts or even "complain" about the gifts they get. Myself included.
I think its a fundamentally self centered activity. Even the act of giving is done to get a rush from sharing something with someone. its selfish, its all about ME ME ME.
Well the people you are hanging out with are immature and materialistic. I'm in my mid 20s and haven't given a shite about a Christmas gift in a long time. I asked for a wallet from my parents last year.

Yeah, and don't forget the renaissance, the age of exploration, and the enlightenment. The height of western civilization was just awful.

Please don't bring something great and real (Phish) into a conversation about religion. Thanks.

It's funny to me that square little white boys like you pretend to like Phish nowadays.

Organized religion tried to suppress many of the scientific and cultural developments that came out of those things, so you're not helping your point. How many brilliant minds were persecuted, if not ultimately killed, for heresy aka challenging the dogma of the time?
