I'm shocked a religion thread made it 17 pages

The problem is that it is the mindless zombie-like crap I had to endure my whole life growing up in the Baptist church. No intellectual curiosity, no questioning of why do I believe what I believe? It really opened my eyes to the phony nature of most Christians and dogmatic Christian belief in general. Any belief system that is that closed minded and fear based was not influenced by the intelligence that created man and the universe. It screamed manmade bullshite. I like your posts Freauxzen. You take more of an intellectual approach to the faith and I can respect that.
Bingo, and I agree, although I was raised in the South, Catholic, and I still am.. That's what I mean. It's easy. The answer to everything being "God," is easy. The answer to everything being "judgement in the end times," is easy. Too easy. There are other reasons for what are classically religious beliefs, and it's up to us to bridge the gap, specifically for people who can't see. People can't use their own simplified beliefs, to talk to someone who doesn't share them. It will never work.
Thanks.

Satan applauds you.

I don't think it's fair to say people asking for prayers are idiots. I know plenty of intelligent people who pray. But the concept of prayer is amusing. All studies that have been done on prayer show that it has no effect on actual events and whether you pray or not, everything that happens is according to "God's will" anyway so there doesn't seem to be a point other than to comfort yourself.
Oh, well, the study says its true...so it MUST be true. This is ridiculous. The concept of praying isn't about material things just popping up as a result.
Has that happened to people? Yes. Mostly it doesn't happen, but it doesn't mean prayer has no effect just because the physical result you prayed for doesn't come about.
That really is funny. A fricking study, eh?

I think religion is the worst concept that's ever been thought of by humans. It holds people back from really enlightening themselves. Religions enslave, kill and pull people apart from each other.
I don't judge people who believe in any religion. More power to them

You THINK, THINK is not any word someone would correlate to absolute certainty. It could have actually UNLOCKED human minds.....you're just making speculation that can't prove itself anymore than any other possible speculation.

Again, how do you know that wouldn't have occurred anyways? It makes physical sense iMO. You dont want to do the work, you can conquer people and their resources, and use them to create more resources for yourself...does that not make some BIOLOGICAL sense?

This seems to be a common factor in every great society that declined and ultimately failed. And I say that as someone who isn't particularly religious.
