Not even remotely true for anyone over the age of 16. But I do agree it's unfortunate how commercialized it is.

Nobody is legislating against evangelicals. It's against the law to do so.

So, laws against prayer in school is not an attack on evangelicals?

This country was founded by Christians but it was NOT founded on Christian principles. That idea only came around in the last century. The founding fathers adhered to Enlightened philosophy and took the separation of church and state very seriously.

No its part of the constitution. Its actually to protect evangelicals, as most people are not in fact evangelicals. Do you want your kid praying to allah or zenu or joseph smith?

Moving away from moral behavior? Why would anyone like this? If it doesn't exist, what does it hurt for everyone to have some sort of moral compass?

Basically what Im saying. I think its the lesser of two evils. Say what you want about religions, but I think in many cases it still gets a good message across. If there wasn't ever any religion, then no reason would have ever resulted, and these absolutists wouldn't have any ground to stand on. Without religious foundations there is no "right" or "wrong".

Where would we turn to for our moral standards? I can't think of anyone qualified to set up any morals standards that generations could follow...and what if one generation decided not to follow it? Would then that message get lost and it would change to something else? Just sounds like a mess.

If you "know" God doesnt exist, or you "know" the world is better off without Christianity, Judaism etc. Then I can't take you seriously. You have no idea what the world would be like, you could only assume AT BEST. Who knows if religion wouldn't have just been replaced by something equally influential, and maybe influential in a worse way than religion initially was.

Hell, religion led to the United States, the Enlightenment , and believe it or not, some of our greatest inventions come through the Enlightenment period, such as electricity.

Science itself began from the foundations of religion. Just google the "Four physical elements". That thinking led to many modern scientific findings. It permeated centuries of differing beliefs which led to many deep curiosities that resulted in testing the world around us.

Dont be a fool. Religion has been around for almost the entirety of human existence.

There is something that comes WITH religion, that seems to have an integral role in human kind. At the surface, you see what you see, but theres more than meets the eye.

Yeah, I agree that all people should strive to become more like socialist countries. Moving away from what a prosperous capitalist nation was founded on is a good idea.

Except for the fact that this country was founded on neither Christianity or capitalism you make a great point. Do yourself a favor and pick up a book sometime. You might learn something.

so the only thing stopping you from going around murdering people is your faith in god? and the bible telling you not to. Are you really that bad of a person that you can't figure out what is right or wrong? Someone has to tell you?

Now this is an absolute crock of horseshite. You are depending on organized religion to build character & empathy. Do you not see the massive red flag in living this way?

Crime has seen a steady decrease over the last 30 years. i think its working out just fine.

Not that I have an opinion on God, but morals and crime are two totally different things.

Crime is based on laws of wherever you are living, morality is based on an individuals assessment.

So basically people can believe morals are declining even though crime is declining also.

What do you mean, "what?" Gift giving is usually supposed to be centered around thinking of others. That's different from saying it's overly commercialized. Are you 14?

But you also said you thought the CNBC moderators did a good job last week. And it's evident you are trying to shite all over the modern practice of Christianity. So you're being a tryhard as usual.

this is the probably with society growing less religious

the few that do remain religious, will only grow to become more extreme and rigid to fight back against the "moral decay"

With the British colonization of Georgia in 1732, the 13 colonies that would become the United States of America were established.[78] All had local governments with elections open to most free men, with a growing devotion to the ancient rights of Englishmen and a sense of self-government stimulating support for republicanism.[79] With extremely high birth rates, low death rates, and steady settlement, the colonial population grew rapidly. Relatively small Native American populations were eclipsed.[80] The Christian revivalist movement of the 1730s and 1740s known as the Great Awakening fueled interest in both religion and religious liberty.[81]
