A Dewalt with a long 1/8" drill bit going into his knee will have him begging to give all of the shite back. A second knee will be unnecessary.

Man, you didn't even suggest a paddle bit?

Ok, I'm the one being excessive.

Why did he let the handyman leave before finding out where his stuff is? If he's so sure he did it.

I would've put that dude thru a series of test & found out where my stuff was. Men are too soft nowadays.

All you have here is missing items and the homeowner's word they were there before. This will be going against the handyman's word that he didn't take them. If there's no proof he took anything, why would the police or a PI or a civil suit accomplish anything? Short answer, it won't.

On the longest of long shots you could get a PI to tail him 24/7 for a few weeks to get evidence of him selling said goods, but even that's an extreme long shot and unless one could get their hands on the goods to verify they are the ones that are missing, there's no case.

If there is no evidence and it’s just an accusation sort of thing, the handyman isn’t really a criminal.

Very coincidental but that doesn’t mean a crime was committed

Without video or any sort of evidence the guy possessed the items they are wasting their time and effort

And even with some of those things the cops still don't give a shite most of the time

If you find it online have a PI, preferably former LEO, a lawyer, or even current LEO allowed to do off-duty security pose as buyer.

Their word will carry more weight with court and just might spurr DA or prosecutor to action.

Just make sure you sell it all for cash to friends. Don't list it online.

Go into his home when he’s not there and dig around. You could hire someone to do this for you.

As often and well documented as the lying and corruption IS (not was, not maybe, definitely is) with LEO I have serious issues with police testimony weighing greater than any accused. Since it still exists use it to advantage but at the same time let the court know it is bad practice to determine one established liars word over others.

IMO it was not your fault. It is the fault of the person who stole it. You should be able to leave the truck unlocked and running without some dirtbag taking your stuff.

A 99 times out of 100, the police aren’t going to help you recover stolen property and aren’t even going to make an attempt to do so. Learned this when my car was broken into 20 years ago.
