Olin, Axial

Isnt that Olin inside of Dow? I think that's a diaphragm chlorine/caustic plant. I did chlorine for a while. Wont do it again.

Is Axial the former Westlake the former Georgia Gulf? I cant keep track of that place

I think Placid would be the winner across the river

I’m not saying we shouldn’t have chemical plants.
I’m saying they suck to work in.

Go work for a contractor instead. You’ll make more money and have more opportunities faster

Not for everyone. Manufacturing IT professionals prefer chemical plants over refineries and paper mills every time.

By that do you mean eating good chilling on WiFi and counting your per diem while it racks up for 6 of those 19? I dont believe you are a slave getting 4 hours sleep a night unless it's your choice

Olin in Plaquemine is inside of Dow, yes. They bought Dow’s chlorine and chlor-alkali assets a few years back.

Technically the old Axial is now Westlake.

Placid is a privately owned refinery, which makes them a little unique. There are major benefits to working for a company like that, but also pitfalls. They take care of their people but they run lean, so they expect a lot.

Someone else mentioned Criterion (Shell Catalysts) in Port Allen - which is probably a great place to work from what I’ve seen.. but they only have like 12 employees so I’m not sure there are a ton of openings.

People talk shite about Shintech but from what I’ve seen they pay their employees pretty damned well. It just an adjustment getting used to the politics and Japanese engineering culture.

Stay away from all of them! Traffic sucks balls! Add another 2 hours to your ride home if you coming to Baton Rouge when you get off at 4.

Why? Does it have something to do with running the same as often as possible where as refineries constantly have different crudes?

DOW has been full woke. They are also a miracle to haven't killed any more people than they have. That and it's a rat fest. Their whole philosophy revolves around doing nothing but meetings and snitching on each other all day.
