We have nothing to fear, Putin is a true Christian friend of us in the deep south. He will not send this overseas to us.

No but cipro does. Unless it’s been modified by the Soviets/Russians.

If this is basic pneumonic plague, we're likely okay. We see occasional outbreaks of it. If it's modified, oh boy, buckle up. Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing right now. Only a few Russians know for sure, and they're always truthful.

Based on our resident virologists in this thread, seems like if it was just your common everyday black death, then they would have been able to save the girl with one of those effective anti-biotics that have been listed, to be given within the first 24-48 hours.

She also should have been given a vaccine shot if she was working there. If so, that didn’t work either.

So little info out there now. Just like Covid.

Those are some good ones.

Whatever he decides to call it, I'm really needing him to reassure me it will be over by Easter.

We don't know the exact timeline of this woman. She could have tried to ride it out at home for a day. Even a half a day would increase the chances of death.

And don't discount rural Russian livers. They come out of the womb pickled. That could potentially complicate treatment.

Not a reason to panic but also not a reassuring sign because they are might be privy to information that the public doesn’t have.

Interesting coincidence - I watched the movie "Inferno" last night. It is based on a Dan Brown book about an attempt to unleash the plague in Instanbul.

1. It rapidly progresses from asymptomatic to multiple organ failure if antibiotics are not started on time. The tendency of Americans to try and ride out a cold would get a lot people killed if this incident becomes a pandemic.

2. The antibiotics that you speak of are mostly made in China and India who would quickly shutdown exports if this incident turns into a pandemic.

3. We all better pray that the Russians are competent enough to contain this and it blows over. Unfortunately I don’t have much faith in the Russians.

Will we be able to get the football season in before this breaks out into a worldwide death spiral? Asking for a friend.
