How would they calculate a per-mile tax?

They would just use the tracking device implanted in the Covid vaccine to determine when you are in a vehicle versus walking. This way it will teach how many miles you are in a vehicle. It doesn’t say the tax is for drivers only. It could be for all passengers in a vehicle.

Maybe every time you fill up with gas you’ll have to enter mileage or take a pic of odometer and send to a server before you can pump gas.

But seriously I’m sure they are paying some silicone valley organization to research and develop some test program to calculate and monitor.

People who live in Montana, Utah, Idaho, the Dakotas, etc. will get hammered. What about Amazon, U.S. Mail trucks, UPS?

Does anyone actually think that they will eliminate a tax? This is the government we are talking about. They will fail to eliminate the gas tax and then they will add this milage tax.

Plenty of places out there that you are doing at least a 60 mile round trip for groceries.

A place I am considering is 23 miles from the closest town with gas and groceries.

i was told this administration was going to be moderate, back to normal, and not progressive. And on top of that that Biden would never taxes houses under the $400k income level

I mean...it would be nice to have all the EV drivers start paying their "fair share".

My gasoline vehicles already contribute via the gasoline tax, so no need to track me or my vehicles.

Sounds like a massive tax on rural people to pay for the urban people who don't drive.

How do they ensure these taxes go to roads and bridges only...

I bet it'll make its way to government programs

The urban planners that get government jobs HATE suburbs. they see sprawl as the source of many of society's problems.

There would be no need for suburbs if every major city proper in America wasn't a shithole.

Require states to get odometer readings through registrations and inspection stickers. OR the IRS could do random audits and make examples of people that lie.

Here, you can choose to drive less.

Ya, people can just tell their bosses they'll be coming in to work less because they need to drive less.

This is 100% aimed at the suburbs and rural areas, for purely political reasons.

Onstar has been around for how long?

A decade ago, luxury cars like Lexus and Cadillac which uses OnStar really screwed up. When the wireless 2G signal was turned off, they and customers lost their navigation and emergency services.
