I would agree with you coming into the job 100%, but I mean, my boss said something completely different.

To me this is the key ... the boss might say something. But what are they wearing? If they are wearing shorts. Go with it. If they are in jeans, that is your standard.
Does anyone actually think that they will eliminate a tax? This is the government we are talking about. They will fail to eliminate the gas tax and then they will add this milage tax.

I wish I could say that article is the most asinine thing I have read this week but COVID keeps the stupidity flowing.
Now this is Texas so ...

My wife is a teacher and I asked something similar. Post spring break they have 2 weeks of "new content" teaching and the rest of the year is review and prep for the state mandated tests. So in essence they have only lost 2 weeks of new content.
Alot of it depends on why you need the truck. If its just a daily driver and you just want a truck ... then any or all of them will be great. It all depends on ride and gadgets at that point for you. If its towing then there are some things to consider.

If you are looking for a 1/2 ton, I know you didn't mention it in the OP but I would look at a Tundra. I had one for 10+ years. Ran perfectly. The only time it was in the shop was for maintenance. Towed my 8900lb travel trailer great ... gas mileage sucked towing but that will be true for most of the 1/2 models.

If you are going to do towing then I would look to Ford or GMC ... the Ram actually has less payload than you would expect for a truck. I was actually considering a Ram 2500 when I bought my F250 this year but the payload is really small for a 3/4 ton compared to ... well everyone else.

Personally there was something about the GMC that I didn't like - at least in the 2500 models. I honestly don't know what it was I just drove it and said nope. I know folks that have GMC's and love them.

That and a quick glance around the passenger compartment has gotten me more than one 'I stopped you because I clocked you going a little fast. Let's slow it down and get where you're going safe, ok? Have a nice day (night).'

Very true. I get pulled over about 2-3 times per year. I am 47 and have had 2 tickets in my life. A little respect and a LTC in Texas are a damn near get out of a speeding ticket free combo.
That does surprise me. But looking at how Disney has been over the last few years they are going all SJW - the "it" guard speaks volumes.
Getting involved is not advisable.

My job is to keep my family safe. Not some random trashy people in a free for all. Get my family away from the melee. If any of them push hit etc my family then I get involved because at that point I can - from a legal perspective - say I was defending myself or my family. Getting involved "escalates the violence" from a legal perspective.

These people are going to sue disney and then use this video to find and sue the people who got involved. Not to mention the SJW are going to identify everyone who jumped in and blast them on social media. They will be be called racist, doxxed and get death threats.

Not worth the effort.
A friend is an ump for little league in the area. His son, 17, is doing it as well. The son was umping a game (field ump) for 9 year olds and threw out a parent for cussing out the home plate ump over ball and strike calls. The parent sat in the parking lot and followed this kid to his car after the game. Continued to cuss the kid out and pushed him. Had other parents not pulled this $%^&*() off of him who knows what would have happened.

It all boils down to parents seeing their little kids as future major league contracts and not just enjoying the game.

re: Concealed carry choice?

Not trying to start anything but carrying a gun with only 50 rounds of practice through it scares the crap out of me. Before I will carry a weapon it has to have at least 400 rounds fired through it so I can see if there are any issues. Not to mention at least 40 rounds of the defense ammo. Not all ammo works well in every gun so you need to practice with it a lot to understand what will happen when the IT hits the fan. Try rapid firing, does the gun fail in any way shape or form? If so figure out what caused the failure - mag, ammo, shooter. Why rapid firing? Because in a self defense situation you will be so amped up you will not be firing slow and methodical. It will be quick. Can you and the gun keep up.

As to the original question, for me its situational

When I am running - Original Ruger LCP
If I have to pocket carry - S&W Bodyguard or maybe an XDs 45 (depending on the pocket depth)
Other times - Either FNS9c or Shield 40

Switching that much gives me an excuse to hit the range a lot. For example, Honey, I need to go practice drawing the Bodyguard because its about to be summer and I need to keep proficient :)

Dry fire practice and using this - LINK helps when I can't get to the range.

I grill in my driveway. Tired of leaving my grill on the deck to get ruined by weather. Once I'm done I roll it 5 ft into the garage and it's out of weather.

This ...

I keep my grill in the garage to keep it out of the weather. I roll it under the tree in our front yard to keep it in the shade so that when I do long smokes I can control the pit temperature better than having the grill baking in the sun.
I make my own for camping trips. Great snacks on trails. If you think about the various costs associated with it ... it is damn expensive.

The biggest is the cost of the meat. Someone in the thread earlier said you get about a 40% yield. I think that is high. I get about 25% at best and beef isn't cheap. Factor in the seasoning, cost of fuel, time it adds up fast.

This thread is going to force me to figure out what my cost per pound is next time I make it.

First World Problem of The Day (FWPOTD)
Some kid from another thread failed his english class because he chose to ignore the class attendance policy that was stated in the syllabus. He didn't attend class and is butt hurt that he failed and now wants the teacher to let him pass. that's a first world problem if I've ever seen one.
The attendance policy was listed on the syllabus that you agreed to. You were rightly held accountable to it. There are consequences to your actions. When you get a real job are you going to tell your boss that you will only show up when you feel its warranted?

All of that being said, I was in a similar situation when I transferred schools. I had taken a geology class previously that I earned an A in but for some reason the second school didn't count it as equivalent. Showed up on day one to a professor that said if you missed more than 4 classes it was an automatic F. They were using the same textbook, lab guides, etc. so I went to the professor. Showed him my transcript, etc. We discussed the situation and came up with a compromise that I could only show up for exams as long as I was making an A. If any exam was less than an A then I had to start coming to class again. I attended 6 classes the entire semester.
My daughter is in a similar situation. 6.4 GPA on a 6.0 scale. 33 on the ACT but because she is not in the top 1/4 of her class - (she is 4 kids from being top 25%) she doesn't qualify for alot of the scholarships that she should get.

While she got into her school of choice, her school choices are limited because she is doing Deaf Education. She is just blocked from a full academic ride because of her class rank. If we were in any other school in our district, she would be top 25% easy.

Sigh.
Baseball. I was catching and thought I had figured out the signs for the other team. I called a pitchout because I thought they were stealing.

As I was coming in the dugout afterwards

Coach: What the frick was that
Me: I thought ...
Coach: Don't think it makes my dick itch.

That is what got me. If he told the investigators that he knew he couldn't see and was still driving. Case closed - criminal and civil.

I am right handed and am left eye dominant. I can't close my left eye and leave my right eye open. I just can't. I have to manually close my left eye. Some people are just that way. I shoot a pistol right handed but shotgun and rifle left handed.

I am not a fan of the eye patch because ... well this is the outdoor board so everyone here is a gun owner most likely. A large percentage of those carry a gun for self defense. If you need to shoot for self defense and need an eye patch to be able to aim ... well thats not going to work well. This is the same reason why I haven't forced myself to shoot a pistol left handed. While I can shoot with my offhand I can't draw from concealment for shite left handed. I just don't have the dexterity to do it. If I need to draw for self defense it needs to be natural and quick. Thus I shoot with my right hand as the primary.

What really helped me be able to aim better with both eyes open and the left eye dominant problem is to offset your right eye. Meaning while shooting turn your head slightly to the right. This puts the left eye in front of the right and your brain will focus with the left eye more than the right. This allow you to use the dominant eye with the other still open.

It helped me immensely.
