Court filings on behalf of the brother, in response to a lawsuit by Vanessa Bryant, claim that Kobe Bryant knew of the risks of flying in a helicopter

quote:

The documents, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court in response to a wrongful death suit from the NBA star's widow, Vanessa Bryant, claimed that Kobe Bryant knew of the risks of flying in a helicopter and chose to anyway.

"This negligence was a substantial factor in causing their purported damages," according to documents filed Monday on behalf of Berge Zobayan, the pilot's brother.

In her suit, which was filed Feb. 24, Vanessa Bryant claimed that Zobayan and the company he worked for, Island Express Helicopters, put their Sikorsky S-76B in the air when conditions weren't safe for flying.

quote:

The helicopter company, Island Express, responded in court documents Monday saying that Bryant "had actual knowledge of all of the circumstances, particular dangers, and an appreciation of the risks involved" in the flight and still chose to board. They said they are not responsible and the crash was "an act of God."

None of us were in that helicopter, but if the conditions were bad enough and the pilot didn't put a stop to the flight, it's on him. Part of being the expert in a situation is knowing when to pull the plug.

There are bold pilots and old pilots, but no bold and old pilots.

I think it is stupid that she is suing but I agree with you. I am sure that Kobe forced the issue but at the end of the day this is on the Pilot. He knew the conditions and the dangers, he should have said no, I would.

The pilot in command has the final authority and assumes all actions good or bad that occur.

There still was no reason for Vanessa Bryant to file against the estate of the helicopter pilot, besides just being vengeful

People on this board incorrectly claimed it was so she can college Kobe’s life insurance, which is so inaccurate I don’t know where to begin

Ultimately the pilot is responsible. He was at the controls. He took off from the pad.

You expected the pilot’s brother to say something else?

Hopefully his wife and children will pay for his mistake so Vanessa Bryant can be happy

Pilot has the last word on go, no go, Even if if Bryant pressured him to fly it’s on the pilot.

No, it was more like getting wet when you jump into the pool.

The fog was way too thick for helicopter flying that day and should've never flown at that time.

All that needed to happen for everyone to live was for someone to say no or at least stall a bit, I don't care who it was and Kobe and the Pilot didn't do that.

Why? Do you know if the life insurance policy has a waiver of subrogation?

Yeah, it was a pretty shitty thing to do. His family is grieving as well and all she wants to do is take away their ability to support themselves.

Please explain what that has to do with Vanessa Bryant suing the personal state of the pilot in order to receive payout from her carrier
