Bozeman Mt. Lived there for 3 years.

Summer time: at least 3 blue ribbon trout streams close by. Mountain ranges for 4x4, hiking/camping. Yellowstone is only about 90min drive.

Winter: awesome skiing. Bridger Bowl; Moonlighthe basin; Big Sky.

All season the town itself is a nice little college town in the mountains, cool downtown and bar scene.

Hot Springs, AR is a great place if you've never been. The ladies usually love it.

All of which are in driving distance from Honolulu. Besides, unless you rent a house or condo, there's not a lot of places to stay outside of Honolulu. Turtle Bay and maybe a couple of places in K-Bay.

Both have everything you'd want for both urban and outdoor settings. Great food and drinks and fantastic outdoor activities within an easy drive.
