In my area it is honestly hard for me to tell we are in anything resembling a shutdown. Sure, most businesses are closed. And the restaurants that are usually packed are extremely empty. But The road is full of cars as normal. There is still traffic on interstate. Every grocery store is completely packed always. (Im convinced grocery stores are the #1 reason for the curve not flattening as the experts are hoping. I understand it's essential, Nd I dont know of a better way to do it, but it's impossible to social distance when you need some more chicken and rice, but there's 400 people in that 1 store.)
Not to mention, the walking trails and the parks by my house are full of people always. I havr never seen this many people out and walking outside. It's great that people are taking this time and trying to be healthy. It just shows that we Americans suck at trying to "shelter in place".

I've lived in a house facing this small neighborhood park for about 3 years.
It's a nice park, but has always been pretty vacant.
In the past 3 weeks, I've now probably waved to and seen every neighbor and their dogs in the subdivision. Not to mention all the people walking the energy out of their little kids. The park has never been so busy, its kinda nice.

Practice social distancing, stay hygienic, and use common sense. You will probably come into contact with this at some point and it is going to have to run its course. You can't stop everyone from living and keeping everyone in their homes at all times. Right now it is about protecting the old and vulnerable as best we can ,but as insensitive as it sounds you will have more people who will die from this and we can't stop living our lives over this. You have too many chicken little's who work themselves into a frenzy and think that they can control this and then on the other hand you have Zoomers doing stupid shite like licking stuff and throwing large parties. You have to live your life with respect for the situation, but also can't be so careless.

My builder was telling me last night that every Tom, Dick, and Harry was at lowes while they are off work, making it almost impossible to get in, buy what he needs, then get out.

Viruses in general don’t go away. We learn to mitigate them. And we develop heard immunity.
