People are treating this Virus like it is just a long vacation from work

Over in Houston they showed on the news people at the parks near downtown in groups having picnics. They had no regard for this virus and just assume because they are in a group less than 10 and spreading apart it’s all ok. The Home Depot parking lot was packed as well. People are treating this a long vacation not helping to stop a global pandemic. Stay your arse home. Also doesn’t help when the Mayor is cool with going to the park.

They’re just going to do their thing and when they inevitably see a surge like New Orleans they’ll just blame Louisiana like they do for their crime. The politicians in these places know they missed the window on stopping it, like New Orleans did, so they’ve resorted to laying the groundwork for setting the narrative that they got from somewhere else.

My work life has been very busy. Not having to commute and the cancellation of children’s activities have made days feel more like a vacation though

This virus is never going away. Driving through uptown Dallas today, there were hundreds of people walking around. Sitting outside of closed restaurants eating. It’s just stupid. ???????

I’ve not been 10 feet from anyone other than my wife and son for the past two weeks. I’ve worked from home the entire time. That said, my resting pulse is down 15 beats per minute. I know this is stressful and bad but personally, my stress level is way down. I’m actually enjoying this quite a bit. No more rushing endlessly from one thing to the other.
Honestly, I’m not sure I’m going to be ok going back to that.

My HR has been through the roof. I’m a very laid back guy who doesn’t stress easy. Last week and a half has been rough. Bad irregular HR, palpitations, tired feeling

You know what... you’re going to die. Might not be tomorrow, might not be for 40 years but rest assured, it’s going to happen. No need to really worry about it. Just enjoy your life. The things that must happen will, everything’ else you can deal with.

Late edit, I should add my stress isn't worrying about myself. It's if I'm bringing shite home to my family. Not being able to visit parents or in laws, friends losing their jobs, everything shutting down. If I go to the store to get crickets for fishing, am I looked at as a criminal now, for being out in public? I pretty much go to work, come home, stay shut off in the house. Sounds cool, but it isn't at all. Lots of worry out there, whether there's anything we can do about it or not.
Daughter's friends, their parents don't want them around her specifically b/c of me, being a medic. In-laws who I'm very close with don't want me anywhere around them. I don't blame any of them at all, not one single bit, but that starts to have an impact on you after awhile.

Hahaha I was a Paratrooper. I accepted my existence would come to an end when I was about 19. Things like that have a way of reframing your view on life.

I saw alot of essential business open on my way to home depot. Concrete driveway pouring, landscapers, etc...

Right? I was supposed to start a new job last Friday but decided to stay home instead. Not a luxury many people have, but my wife works from home and we don't have too many expenses. I have asthma and I saw how people are treating the stay home orders and knew some of the contractors we'd be working with would likely track some shite into the workplace.
It's been fricking fantastic. I've caught up on schoolwork, I've dropped a few pounds, I'm less stressed because I don't have to deal with other people. I will admit that when I read the news my anxiety spikes, but I just sop reading the news.
I will obviously start looking for a new job when the experts think we are in the clear for the time being, but it's going to have to be pretty spectacular just for the sake of my mental health.

This is how I feel about all this virus shite. If it takes me. So be it, if it takes someone close, sure I'll be devastated but its life.

Same here, I still take precautions but I really don’t give a shite. I’m more worried about my loved ones. I haven’t missed a day of work and have enjoyed my wife not dragging me places.
