At my little one's 1 year wellness visit and I've been "checked in" and waiting on the doctor for 45 minutes. This seems to be standard practice as I've visited multiple offices and always wait at least 30 minutes to be seen, regardless of time of visit. Once seen, it takes no longer than 5 minutes for useless information and/or a shot.

Pediatricians of the OT, what are you guys doing? Tik toking in the break room? Trying the drug samples? Overbooking appointments to maximize profits? Is there not a better system or at least some awareness of how horrible you all are at keeping a schedule?

Just start providing the medical care to your kid yourself. Everything you need is on youtube.

I was gonna suggest they enroll in Med School.

See the World! Caribbean Schools need students too! I hear Cuba is nice this time of year, or perhaps Venezuela.

Change doctors.

We have 3 kids. I can't recall ever "waiting" at all, in fact, it seems if we arrive early, we get in early. I'd ask around about other practices and see what people say.

About the only wait I can recall is at the emergency room. Get ready for that.

I honestly never waited longer than 15 minutes. Go see Dr. Lara at Ochsner on Napoleon. Half the time I barely was able to sit down and they were calling us back.

Just wait until socialized medicine. CVS Caremark is in the process of killing off independents. Bet you can’t find a CVS that will have your meds filled in under 45 minutes.

Soon will be the norm at provider offices

I've never waited near that long. We're almost always taken back at start of appointment time.

That's the thing. We've gone through 3 different pediatricians. Two on the Southshore, Sprout and Collin's both abhorrent wait times. Now Fairway on the Northshore. Same story. You get called back then sit in the room for 30+ minutes. YouTube Doctor and blackmarket diy vaccines sounds like a good idea.

Never had that problem with ours. We barely used to get seated in the waiting room before they called us back, then only waited maybe 5-10 minutes in the exam room.

I've had to wait at least 30-45 mins every time I've taken my child to the pediatrician. Seems like standard bs at every pediatrician office. Been to 3 different clinics and same shite with every one.

My child is 2 years old and it's very difficult to get her to sit there that long. Pediatricians should be more considerate of parents with toddlers.

Could be lots of things. Maybe they have a shitty nurse that is inefficient at rooming people quickly.

Maybe patient one was late and set the precedent for the whole day.

Maybe patient one brought a sibling, parent starts weaseling kid two into the visit, and they go over.

Maybe all of the first two things happen. Maybe 2/3 of the first two things happened.

Maybe the parent started asking about a ton of shite that wasn't pertinent to the original visit, took longer than expected, and backed the day up past what should have been a 15min follow up spot.

Maybe there was a giant fricking rainstorm this morning and the doctor, a regular human, was accidentally late and set a bad cadence for the day's timing.

That's unfortunate. We have probably never waited more than ten minutes.

^^Found the pediatrician. All of those are reasonable possibilities in the vast universe of generalization. Regardless, these are supposed to be the best brightest professionals in the market, and they earn a pretty penny too. They should be able to manage their time. You think an engineer could be late for a meeting or site visit every single time and explain all of that away blaming others and the weather? My suggestion is a dynamic wait system that informs patients of delays so they don't waste half their day in an exam room. Or just endless excuses.

Our pediatrician always spends at least 15-20 minutes with each patient. Since Covid, there’s no wait.

Been to 2 pediatricians, one had no wait but provided terrible, substandard care. Next and absolutely wonderful pediatrician sometimes has a little wait because she’s very thorough with each patient. Some also do virtual exams/appointments during the day that also backs up appointments.

Swing and a miss. I'm just knowledgeable of the situations that usually take place. Generally, the physicians get very upset, flustered when their clinics are behind. Cause then you end up with some parent whining on a message board or writing a bad review.
