the section that failed was only half of the bridge. It was going to be a suspension bridge (cable stay).
From the looks of it someone didn't properly check their temporary construction loads or there was an issue in construction.

Would something like this not be making a lot of noise as it fell? I guess with all the heavy equipment around and a radio on you may not hear it? I would think that much concrete would make a lot of cracking before it completely fell? I'd be curious to see a video of the collapse.
All the videos it really seems like they have absolutely no faith that someone survived underneath, but to me there appears to be 6 inches of a foot of space where there could be someone crushed but alive still.
I don't have a clue how'd you even begin to lift this bridge up safely in case there is someone underneath?

Concrete things fall very quickly.
There probably was little to no warning like there might be with a wooden structure.

id like to see it from the zoomed in shots i have found there doesnt look like anything substantial on the bridge that would cause a failure. Unless it was still connected to the crane and the moved it.

i dont believe this for one second. i dont care how low on the totem pole the construction worker was, he would have gotten others involved and started diverting traffic immediately right?
