Lol, no. On a beach constructed by Disney. Father is arms length from son able to grab hold of attacking gator. Where's their negligence.

On a beach for fireworks all on D property. D had prior knowledge of Gatorade, failed to secure area. Family was in no way doing anything unlawful or against policy. Etc etc etc. It goes on and on.

But feel free to think you are right. A deal has already been struck, by you go right on ahead blaming the dad

Well, there are signs that say NO SWIMMING all over the place but I have a hard time faulting the parents here. I will say that anyone that's been in that area knows it's pretty dark at night and that water is black as coal. I'd never let my kid go in it but I certainly see how people would think it's ok to stand in it. Just a horrific incident all the way around.

Agreed. Any grown man who willingly spends 5-10k to put up with the abuse that is Disney World is not a man.

I'd guess mid to high-seven figures possibly up to $10 mil or so.

I said when this happened that Disney would immediately take care of this family and that the going rate for the death of a family member is about $10M.

This is patently incorrect.

Yeah, was going to ask what jurisdiction that is.

Except the fact of MAYBE having a bit of situational awareness? It's dark and it's Florida. The water is dark and a bit grassy there. It does not take a mental giant to surmise that there may be dangers in the water. This is not a swimming pool. It is a LAKE. Man made or not, you are in the middle of a swamp and there are no swimming signs for a reason. It is also connected to a natural lake by a large canal.

As far as the prior knowledge, alligator attacks are so rare that it was probably not on anyone's mind, including the Disney execs. Not a single death in the history of Disney by gator seemed to lull everyone to sleep concerning the danger.

First off, I seriously doubt they had to ask Disney for anything. I'm willing to bet Disney did stuff entirely on their own.

And maybe, just maybe, these people realized that nature is scary and you can't hold Disney responsible for this. That doesnt make it any less tragic

Last trip was 8k. One before it was $2500. Doesn't matter. You can't offer me a free trip to spend half of my day waiting in lines for buses, monorails, and rides with robot people. Not to mention the Armada of entitled fatties on scooters.

You're either a troll or stupid.

I love the people who say "I don't care how people spend their money" and then enter Disney threads and post about how stupid they think those people are.

If everybody did the honorable thing, lawyers would rarely be necessary.

Unfortunately, we live in a society where most situations have a possible defendant that tells you to go **** yourself.

You guys sure do change your tune, and love the support of an attorney, when somebody tells you to go **** yourself.

Actually most lawyers said the case would be hard to win.

If Disney had any integrity it hopefully did something financially in this situation.

The scary thing is the area around Frontierland, especially Splash Mountain.

Not at all. Both of those trips we planned to the "T." We picked a week with the lowest crowds of the year, planned our days around crowds, picked restaurants that would minimize transportation time, chose a resort that offered the easiest transportation (not letting money get in the way of convenience)...months of research and planning. At the end of the day it was a vacation mostly spent waiting in lines and putting up with fatties with fanny packs. No thanks.

You are asking the wrong question.
