Thank you for telling me this.
Next time I go, I will respind with kindness and be as non threatening as possible.
Anyone out of the ordinary is going to draw some stares, which could understandably be taken the wrong way. I've had minority friends with me out in the mountains before and experienced the same thing you described. What's funny is that after making introductions and shaking a few hands they were treated better than I was.
I was guilty of a weird exchange once. I encountered some Mexicans cooking food on a fire in the middle of a forest service road right by my property. They kind of freaked me out and I could tell that encountering a deliverance looking dude freaked them out. I made a few phone calls and found out they were working for the forest service so I went back and handed out some ice water to put them at ease.

He sure has a lot of clothes on for a very hot summer day. This did happen at what time? What was the temperature?
And his hair looks light brown and he isn't balding yet.

You’re a dumbass.
In any case it was a targeted thing. The killer was clearly after them specifically

Am I the only one interested in how the authorities got this pic of the suspect from behind at such a short distance?
Seems they know more than they are saying?
Yes, there is more known but it's puzzling. This picture came from a third party good samaritan and was only released to the public to put pressure on the psycho that did this. There are photos of his face
He won't make it much longer. As of now, seems totally unconnected to the family. I hate this.
If, for some reason you are reading this thread - you should turn yourself in now. You will get caught, it's only a matter of time

That dude looks like he's wearing penny loafers.

Why would they not release photos of his face if they had him? If the public is going to help, he's not going to be still wearing his hiking clothes and backpacks

That’s a serial killer duffel bag full of supplies. I really believe this is a serial killer and he’s just getting started- someone like the Zodiac Killer
If you really wanted to do this, they sell bags with integrated water bladders that are of all sizes. Someone putting a duffel/ gym bag on a camel back just looks like an idiot

The attack is very Israel Keys.
Listened to the book about him and freaked me out.

There is an open murder case out in Fort Collins for a murder of a man while he was hiking, guess I need to carry now every time I hike alone

How far away did she take the kids from the scene? How much time elapsed between the murder of the husband and her return to the scene? It seems very odd that once she ran, that the killer would have remained at the scene.
Has any of this part of the story about the wife leaving and coming back been verified? Very strange part of the story. Why would the wife not come back with any help? I thought this was a busy area? Would a women yelling for help not attract any attention? How many ways out were there here? Generally there’s a trail in and a trail out, the once picture posted looks like it’s mountainous so not super likely he just went off into the bush?

i believe someone a few pages back said that it's been reported that the mother told the girls to run, but that she did not leave with them...

Yeah here’s a quote:
“Their children, ages 7 and 9, turned up at the park’s visitor center unharmed and were released into the custody of other family members.“
Sounds more like a creepy dude with either the girls or the mom, and Dad intervenes and gets attacked. Mom tells the girls to run and helps out.

That husband looks kinda shady
He may have been involved in some shady stuff
Hard to believe this was random

Yeah, except that he is a milk delivery driver. His employer, Hiland Dairy, transferred him to Arkansas to begin a new milk route in Fayetteville.
Kinda more nerdy than shady.

It's not always about getting the public's help. Sometimes it's letting someone know that they have pictures and know what he/she looks like
And face pictures don't have to be from the same day... The last thing you want to do is release a picture of an innocent man.
