How many of the these parents are active in the PTA. My kids go to a school with a big income disparity between the students. The only parents who participate in the PTA are the affluent white parents. There have been multiple attempts to include the lower income families including meeting with church leaders, community elders etc. Granted there are struggles in lower income families, but taking less than an hour a month to improve their school is a sacrifice that any good parent Should be willing to make.
Seriously, many low income parents want nothing more than a damn hand out. As evidenced by the Orleans Parish demands which are a joke.

I don’t know about the rest of Louisiana but in my little rural area of the state plenty of tax paying parents send kids to public schools and others don’t pay anything. Pay your fair share into the system then give me a list of demands, if not you can frick right off.
