So the parts about arm bars, triangle chokes, guards, mounts, etc. All of these are executed from the feet?

No doubt, just looking at a starting point to get them experience with one at least. Adding more in is definitely in the cards.

any good BJJ school will teach both

If you're small be fast and don't fight in small areas.

If you're big get your back to a wall and fight in the smallest area possible.

know a Judo black belt and he can put me on my arse without trying and I outweigh him by 40-50 lbs.

Judo is another great choice. Toss someone on their arse before they know what hits them and get out of dodge.

It's amazing to me how they do it. I didn't believe it until he had me sucking wind on my back before I knew what was going on. He's 6'2" and about 165-170 and I'm 5'11" 205.

understood BJJ to be great because fights go to the ground, but Muy Thai is a great striking program as well.

Fights sometimes go to the ground
Then their friends start kicking the shite out of you
And rolling on cement sucks

Kickbixing ftw with judo/bjj

In a self defense situation, you have to know when to close distance and when to create distance....

Oh and CCWP.

Seriously though kickboxing and not Thai IMO. Thai frickers kick down trees and are tough as shite. I like to not get hit.

BJJ is more effective for self defense. Muy Thai if you're going to stand toe to toe against someone and trade shots, but that rarely ever happens for the majority of fights. There's a lot of stand up work in BJJ too to protect yourself, get out of choke holds, bear hugs, etc and get control of the situation.

I think sweeps are allowed in mt and not kickboxing. The scoring system might be different also.

But to answer the Op, I choose MT. Once you land a flying knee, your opponent’s friends won’t want a piece of you.
