whats crazy is that if you are winning you will get limited. so basically the system is designed to just extract money from you and even if you try to get any type of edge they can immediately start limiting your account. imagine going into the casino and winning $500 on a slot machine and they say this guy is too lucky we will use facial recognition to make sure he cant win more than $5 at a time.

My high school son has several friends who play PrizePicks, Underdog Fantasy, etc. He asked me about it. I play cards. I don't, however, bet on games or players, so I started calculating the odds.

These games have TERRIBLE odds.

2-Pick Power Plays
Require two out of two correct picks.
Chance of winning 1:4.
Payout is 1:3.
Loss: 25%

3-Pick Power Plays
Requires three out of three correct picks.
Chance of winning 1:8.
Payout is 1:5.
Loss: 37.5%

4-Pick Power Plays
Requires four out of four correct picks.
Chance of winning 1:16.
Payout is 1:10.
Loss: 37.5%

6-Pick Flex Play
Requires at least four out of six correct picks.
Six correct picks pays 1:25.
Five correct picks pays 1:2.
Four correct picks pays 1:.4.
Loss: 32.8%

(I know the payouts are written backwards, but the layout helps convey the loss percentages better.)

You risked $8,821.72 to win $466.10? You could get a much better ROI investing in an index fund.

If I meet anyone who wants to talk about gambling and all of the success they have I automatically loose respect for them.

Betonline is legit, or use Robinhood's prediction format, it is pretty good. Those are good enough for the few dollars us non-degenerates spend in a weekend.

Not looking to drop anything more than $5 or $10 but I will look into those options

100%

This isn’t playing poker with friends.

This entire gambling industry is just one giant operation designed to make people believe that they will win, and they have damn near perfected it.

The dopamine hits. The flashing lights on the apps. The “free” money to bet.

It is fascinating how good they have become at convincing people that handing over your hard earned money is “fun”.

I thinka lot of sports events are rigged and it's because of betting apps.

I put 25 into Robinhood and been playing with that since November. A few dollars on a couple games here or there.

Fair point... Why were you going on about sending out resumes yesterday and not having a job? The answer is right in front of you. Go all in, my man. You've got the gift.

I have 2 friends where this happened. They do actually win, they have spreadsheets and math and their brains work differently than ours, smart numbers people who also know sports. Severely limited by almost all the apps.

DraftKings just became legal in Arkansas, I opened an account years ago on vacation for the bonus bets money. I only got to play when I was on vacation so I had like $100 in my account.

It’s been legal in Arkansas for a month or so I think I’ve opened it once and bet .50 just to try it out.

I remember my dad having a bookie and calling in his bets on Saturday and Sunday morning and him betting at the track. Though I grew up with it, just never appealed to me. I also don't do Casino's much either. The only thing I done with gambling was poker and we did $20 buy ins and once a month $100 buy in. It was just a few of us Army guys. The best gamblers are hitting around 47% so statistically you are not going to win.

Casinos suck because you can lose like $300 in 25 minutes on blackjack

I can bet a $25 hand of BJ on an SEC football game and that's like 4 hours of entertainment

I decided to never own an account watching friends glued to their phones over random hockey and football games nobody cares about. Seems too obsessive with trying to understand odds

Usually throw $10-$20 on a parlay on a weekend I'm off to give me something to watch.
