Good. These young men can do as they please instead of having their nanny state government trying to control them

Played a decent bit in college. Never huge amounts, just 5-10 dollar straights or parlays during CFB.

It’s addicting and I found way less enjoyment in watching the game for profit versus watching for entertainment.

Hook em young and you have them for life. Alcohol, cigarettes, gambling.

I had a buddy who had an addictive personality. 20 years ago, was a compulsive gambler. He'd make the 2 hour run to Nevada 3 or 4 times a month. He would also day trade the market. He got hooked on booze and was an alcoholic for a long time. As far as I know he kicked alcohol 3-4 years ago.

I truly scares me to think what would have happened to him with this kind of access in his pocket.

If you were doing parlays, you definitely were addicted
And it is extremely frustrating.
I saw one guy lose his s*** when a team back door covered a line when it cost him a loss on a 5 game parlay..
Literally the team scored a meaningless like 50 yard TD with under a minute to go to cover a 20 point spread.
Lol

We gamble on practically everything in this country now. I just put a bet on how much rain NYC will get today.

It is common knowledge that the house always wins.

Why even start?

With table games the house wins because the odds/payouts are stacked in their favor.

With sports you're betting against the public. Losers pay winners and the book takes a commission. So it's more of a skill.

Plus it's fun to pick out a value play and win.

Meh. Throwing a small amount at one is low risk high reward.

And they all tell me they are winning.

My brother in law kept telling everyone how much he was winning and how great he was at picking bets... right up until my sister in law told everyone about the $35,000 debt they were in and needed to clear his marker.

We helped them out last time and they paid us back quickly, but he's back to betting again recently. We told them we wouldn't be helping this time. If he hasn't learned his lesson, we're not getting involved again.

This isn’t true. Online sports books absolutely use probability to ensure that they win over time, so there is absolutely an house edge.

We also have stats on just how “skilled” people are. Even professional betters’ successes aren’t much better than a coin flip. We generally know that roughly 95% of people who bet are net losers over time.
