Would be nice to have a decent betting app in Texas where I could throw $10 at a multi-team college football parlay
What’s so nice about that? Everyone I know does that every weekend and they always all lose. This stuff is always rigged against you and designed soley to take your money.
Gambling is something i don’t understand how people get hooked on. At least with drugs and booze you get a kick arse high out of it. Where’s the thrill from losing your money at a casino?

My curiosity is where is this money coming from? Before these people started betting on sports what were they doing with that money? What market is losing money because it is now going to sports betting?

have seen first hand multiple professional people who have had their lives destroyed by gambling. They too always said they were winning. The proliferation of these gambling apps is a disaster for the country and its people.
Same here. You always hear about the wins. Never hear about the losses.

This is why I got out of it. I got hyper addicted to it.

Their paychecks. Then they’ll bitch they don’t have enough money for gas and groceries. But somehow they manage to have money for gambling and only fans subscriptions.

That’s bc young people don’t drink.
I went to a coffee shop near me recently. Was 7am on a Tuesday and it was loaded with college kids.
I wouldn’t have been caught dead being up at 7am during the week in college.

Yeah, but what’s the chicken or the egg in this?

I really enjoyed sports gambling 10 years ago. The workplace had a bookie, and wins were as much about money as they were about bragging rights. I enjoyed it, but at the end of the season, I recognized how much money I lost, and how many other things in life I could have used that money for which would have been more fun. I haven’t done much sports gambling since other than putting $20 on the Saints to win the superbowl the season of the Minnesota miracle.

I have accounts. I don't use them much because I have to drive to Louisiana to bet on my phone.

Exactly. "We can't afford a house like boomers, but we have $500 to drop on a NBA weekend of games"
Eh, it’s l the same issue.
there’s a growing segment of ounger people have mentally given up on the “American dream” … as in they see no need to save because even if they did they can’t afford a house or retire anyway.
So they might as well yolo and try to hit it big (spots betting, crypto, etc) because they don’t really care about losing it all

Your chicken to his egg here, I see.

Don't kid yourself, being up $466.10 in gambling is not "winning" anything in the fulfillment of life you loser.

For people my age, thankfully you could only do so much damage in a weekly poker game with a 10 dollar buy in.
Betting for the thrill is one thing, betting thinking you’ll win money is dumb. Trick is finding that balance where the thrill > money lost, it’s entertainment at that point.

And they all tell me they are winning.
And that's the biggest lie of them all. All the gamblers say they are winning while all the bookies I've known---------and they are many-----always said they were getting killed each week.
At least their stories lined up

People have no self control. I enjoy a little wagering and was in favor of opening it up, but I was wrong. Its an issue.

Betonline is legit, or use Robinhood's prediction format, it is pretty good. Those are good enough for the few dollars us non-degenerates spend in a weekend.

One of the absolute worst addictions out there.
Why anyone would willingly give their money away is beyond Scruffy.
It is common knowledge that the house always wins.
Why even start?
