Back in the early 90's we had a shop teacher that would ask anyone acting up if they wanted to go out back and slap box. No one was sure if he was serious until a new kid from the city took him up on it and came back into class with a red face. After class he took him to the vending machine and bought him a soda.
His black board was only used to write down the loans he gave out to students. He was the most respected teacher in the school by far.
I forgot a lot of the teachers I had. Will never forget Bob Watson.

In some states, spitting on someone is considered assault. Hopefully the teacher can press charges

When I was 16 I was 6 ft and about 175 lbs. My stepdad is roughly 5'8" but stocky and athletic. We squared off ine night after I had been drinking and he tossed me like a rag doll. I thought I could whip him...first time I learned about grown man strength.

If anyone that reports to me at my job spit on me but I threw the 1st punch, I'd be fired without hesitation. They would be as well, but I'd be 100% gone as would anyone in my organization.

Mine involved tug of war.
My paw paw was 75, 5 10 200lbs, lean except for his belly. I was 16 and he held onto one end of a rope while I tried to pull it away. I had 2inches and 40lbs on him.
And not once did he even look like he was trying.
He told me when he was 85 that part of it was just refusing to let losing even be considered.

The kid cursed him out for 5 minutes, threw something at him, spit on him...frick that. Kids in schools know they're untouchable at this point. This was awesome, and I promise if more teachers were allowed to whip arse, there would be more learning and less bitching by the students
