I have seen a lot chatter of golf courses (and driving ranges), parks with tennis courses, and boat launches shutting down as a result of the virus. Also family camping trip seems to the ideal social distancing activity.

Aren’t these the types of activities we should be encouraging probably with a few caveats (ex golfers either walk or one person per cart) so people can still get outside and burn some of their idle time while still staying a safe distance away from others.

The GD botanical gardens here closed down for no reason. They even had the nerve to send out an email a couple of days later begging for donations so they could maintain their staff. frick NO

No! No! No! Shut it all down!!!!! Reeeeeeee!!!

Golf, hiking, family camping are perfect activities right now. Anything that gets people out the house, off the devices, and outside.

Yeah, that was a head scratcher. Places like that, parks and the zoo need to stay open.

Golf courses are (supposed to be) closed in LA right now under the Governor's Stay At Home order.

Ridiculous, really. Just stay 2 club's length away from your caddy and you're good.

Other than sharing a cart which u can obviously eliminate, I can’t think of a time in my many years of playing golf where there was ever a need to stand w/I 6 ft of the person I was playing with.

Are camp grounds closed? Camping seems to be the ideal social distancing.

FWIW I saw a communication from a state senator that asked the LA governors office directly which said that golf courses fell under rule #5 of the stay at home order.

As long as they practice social distancing, they are good to go at this time according to the governor.

People are going to go stir crazy confined to their houses and will just start going to the “approved” places like grocery stores and hardware stores just to get out.

Why not give people some good options that accomplish both social distancing and fun activities?

Hopedale Marina shut down. I could see maybe the shop but why close the launch. Put a little box out there and ask folks to drop payment in it, most will willingly do that.

Some golf courses here are staying open by changing rules a bit. Walking only, only one person per cart, no pins, etc.

Most boat ramps are staying open.

Most parks are staying open, just not allowing camping, pavilion rentals, etc.

Of course people are still bitching about whether or not they can do these things online and starting rumors, idiotic responses, etc when all they have to do is pick up the fricking phone and call the park if they have a question.
