Yep, Bill Nye could learn a lot about science by reading the OT a little more often

Never in the history of the planet has there been a flood until humans

Before humans came along it was beautiful 70 degrees every day everywhere.

I read an article on CNN several months back attributing coastal erosion in La to global warming. Anyone with any type of knowledge on the situation knows that a vast majority of this erosion is caused by other man-made factors, not global warming.

The coastal erosion thing is what makes the comment laughable.

Linus Carl Pauling is proof that no matter how smart you are, you can be an absolute dumbass and completely wrong about something. Published over 1,000 times, awarded two Nobel Prizes, founded the field of Quantum Chemistry... Also claimed vitamins could cure cancer and make you live forever (he died of cancer by the way).

He is right in the sense that the climate is going through constant change over time, but how much is directly caused by man is the 100 trillion dollar question.

I like to ask my liberal arts degree friends who try to educate me on climate change, how much of the change in the climate is anthropogenic? If they don't even know what that word means, then I assume my time is wasted discussing the topic with them and ask which reality TV shows they are currently enjoying.

Can you prove it is or isn't the reason that we have had the longest steak without a hurricane entering the Gulf in over 130 years?

mean technically he's right. One minute it was sunny, the next the climate changed and it rained fricking buckets and then it flooded.

But it's like that every summer in LA.

Being asked to prove a negative is how you know you're dealing with a mental giant.

The climate is changing. The ocean is rising. These are facts.

People who debate those things sound very uninformed.

The question is how much is caused by man and now much is just a natural climate cycle on Earth. That is the only thing that should be debated.

Bill Nye is not even a real scientist. He's a television entertainment character young people were indoctrinated to think was an actual voice of science and reason.

Bill Nye earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University. That's an Ivy League institution

Nye holds several United States patents,[41] including one for ballet pointe shoes[35][42] and another for an educational magnifying glass created by filling a clear plastic bag with water.[43][44] From 2001 to 2006, Nye served as Frank H. T. Rhodes Class of '56 University Professor at Cornell University.[11][45] Nye supported the 2006 reclassification of Pluto from planet to dwarf planet by the International Astronomical Union.[46]

Nye is a fellow of the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry, a U.S. non-profit scientific and educational organization whose aim is to promote scientific inquiry, critical investigation, and the use of reason in examining controversial and extraordinary claims.[47] Interviewed by John Rael for the Independent Investigation Group IIG, Nye stated that his "concern right now ... scientific illiteracy ... you [the public] don't have enough rudimentary knowledge of the universe to evaluate claims."[48] In November 2012, Nye launched a Kickstarter project for an educational Aerodynamics game called AERO 3D but it was not funded.[49] His book, Undeniable: Evolution and the Science of Creation, was released on November 4, 2014.[50] His second book, Unstoppable: Harnessing Science to Change the World, was published in 2015.

He's smarter than you

Single anamolous events aren't a direct result but more likely. That's been made pretty clear but it's still a hard concept to grasp for many.

If it's a 500 year flood then it's to be expected every 500 years. BR's number came up. What does "Global Warming" have to do with it?

ETA: or maybe not. There was a .2 % chance of it happening every year
