On this we can agree.

Why would I deliberately not use half my body to perform a task? Its fricking insanity and makes no sense.

Obvious troll is obvious.

Yes, really. Keep in mind my goal is to get my chin over the bar, not "blast" my lats and bi's.
What makes more sense?

Remember that functional strength you were just talking about?

What is the point of doing more pull-ups if you aren't getting any stronger

Functional strength is taking the heaviest wight and finding the easiest and safest way to lift it.
A kipping pull up is also the first step to a muscle up.
What is "functional" about not using your hips and legs?

wouldnt that exceed weight standards?

You do get stronger, it may not be as focused in your lats and bis but you will gain hip strength, ab strength as well. Not to mention increased cardio vascular strength and coordination which help with mind/muscle connection which can help increase strength,

Would definitely exceed yours. Unless we are talking tricep cable pushdown...you probably can "crush" those.

Overall fitness and functional strength were of no concern. What part of all this is untrue?

They certainly do. But crossfit has done more to introduce people to proper weight training in recent years than any other fitness routine out there.
Crossfit has its problems, most of which stems from the actual crossfitters themselves. But I can appreciate what they've done for the industry as a whole.

Read Power to the People. It's the best deadlift instructions I've seen.
If your #1 goal is strength, with no regard to aesthetics, I highly recommend looking into power to the people by pavel whatever his last name is.

I found a .gif of Robin Masters building his functional strength

if you are still seeing movement with a linear program, keep doing it. When you hit walls at say squat, and deadlift...then it's time for a change.
Thanks for all the advice, gurus.
