OT Used Carsaleman Trick of the Day.

Need an opinion on this:
We have a young lady in our office (she is a smoke show so maybe I can get a pic) that just moved to our office in Louisiana.
She sees a car one weekend she wants to buy so she makes a deal trading in her car that is tagged in Florida. She explains to the dealership that she is in the process of moving here from Florida since she still had Florida license at the time, Florida tag, yada yada yada. Salesman tells her no problem this is what it will cost to tag the car and we can roll it into your note and send you the tag.
So this deal is a month old, she has made a few payments, she has been driving the new car and her trade in is off the lot so it is either been sold or sent to auction I assume.
Today the dealership calls and tells her that her tag is in and she can come pick it up but it will cost her $3200 because that was the dealership’s cost to transfer her trade in to LA.
To me it sounds like the dealership screwed up, or was just trying to make the sale, or are just trying to take advantage of the young gal.
Me or one of the other guys are going with her to get the tag today and I told her don’t worry this was their frick up and there is no way they can hold the tag from her or make her pay it.
OT masters am I right of did I really just feed the smokeshow a lie too?

Well I’m probably too old to pull that off but I damn sure wouldn’t be doing it if she looked like my dog faced secretary

Louisiana used car commission
you can file a complaint against the used car dealer see what happens.

I wonder if there were some unseen lien or back taxes in Florida.

What industry are you in? A smoke show working construction vs a smoke show working at a dental office is two very different things.

I have never seen anyone get a tag from dealership. Letting them do anything more than the minimum required is dumb.
I will say to get tags you have to pay the sales tax and the dealership would have to pay that to get the tag.
So, the 3200 would be sales tax.

And the blue book value for taxes you already paid on it in another state but this dumbass state wants to tax it again.

The only thing that would make sense to me where that number came from you be the value of the car causing the tag to be that high
