Joint checking and savings and log everything into the budgeting app, makes for a happy marriage.

We have a joint checking that both checks get deposited into.
Our vacation fund is a joint savings that my OT goes into.
We each have a personal checking that we only use during Christmas/birthdays/gifts for one another so we can’t see what we bought.

Sort of We have two joint accounts. One gets her paycheck and she manages, the other gets my paycheck and I manage.
We both have debit cards on each account and have access to each account. But we generally only spend from our own accounts.
Her account pays her car note and related expenses, and the vast majority of "spending" as she is the one who usually buys groceries, clothes, household items, etc. We usually use her account for most dining out and entertaining expenses when we are together. Anything she spends on her own, comes out of her account.
My account pays for the vast majority of household bills, my car and related expenses, the occasional grocery shopping / household shopping I do, and any expenses I have on my own.
It works for us. We know what the other is doing, but it lets us each be responsible for something. I might use my debit card for "her account" 3-4 times a year and she the same for "my account".

My wife and I have separate checking accounts. All of our credit cards are joint, and our savings, investment and retirement accounts are joint except 401(k).

Yes. They were already setup before we married.
She has access to mine, and me to hers.

Same here. We trust each other and it's worked for 22 years so far.

Been married 9 years always had separate checking accounts and credit cards, I pay all the bills... mortgage, insurance, car, utilities, private school...except one kids daycare. She pays for her own credit card bills, but She can use one of my credit cards for family stuff as needed. Has worked good for us

OT Married Folk: do you and your spouse keep separate checking accounts?
We each have our own separate checking and savings accounts as well as a joint checking and a joint savings account. We have a dedicated amount that goes from our checks into joint checking with a portion going to joint savings (when a deposit over x amount is made into joint checking).
Joint checking is used for things like mortgage, insurance, groceries, house maintenance and Christmas cards/gifts to the family.
Our personal checking and savings is just that but we have the login info for each others' accounts (that's called "trust" and it's damned hard to have a good relationship without it).
I know lots of people with different setups and as long as it works for them, that's great. This is what works for us.

Yeah we have separate but they're tied together with full access.
Will probably get around to joint as some point.

Same here. The only separate account either of us have is I’ve got a credit card for business expenses.

Yes we still have our individual savings and checking accounts from before we got married 16 years ago

ours isn't a trust issue and wasn't really planned, we both had stuff prior to marriage, she needs a separate account for her work, and not by design but she has no idea how much money we have in retirement accounts or stocks, I don't try to hide it but she never asks

Nope.
We have separate retirement accounts, but everything else is joint.

She knows about that one.
Too many attendant tax documents.
I’ve got an account at Capital One she doesn’t have access to, I guess I could do something nefarious through it but I don’t.
We have separate Retirement accounts & 401(k)s.
I know what’s in her’s she doesn’t know what’s in mine.

Yes. She spends her money on what she wants and I on what I want. Then we basically split living expenses 50/50.
